I worked at Boots full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people and there is a lot of potential to really shine here if you are a very knowledgeable expert and have the skills and experience to influence and educate others, including leadership.

    Cons

There is a lot of job title inflation, office staff is heavy on manager titles and above but not everyone is qualified. Still functions like a startup, can be very chaotic. New leadership is high pressure and demanding. Has become a cut-throat environment, there is a lot of pressure to be a "know-it-all" self starter. US team is heavily dependent on UK side of the business which ultimately drives the global business.

    Advice to Management

Everyone wants a rock star, be more open to people development, training, mentoring and the coaching of others so they succeed in their roles. US side of the business needs to be better aligned with the UK side, work culture, pressure and expectations are not the same.

    I worked at Boots full-time

    Pros

Great brand. Believe leadership has its eye on the prize.

    Cons

Middle management is very good at blaming and managing up. HR is in bad shape, and could really use some people that actually care.

    Advice to Management

Looking forward is important, but equally important to look down.

    Pros

Good hours , good benefits, you can wear all black no uniform , Great trainings

    Cons

Walgreens took over and now they pay less, Walgreens managers try to manage you even when you work for boots , A lot of rumors and gossip and they never tell you the truth until it's too late .

I worked at Boots full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great products and great value

    Cons

Stock controlled by Target, Goals set by Boots. Do Not support each other. Impossible situation. Many inconsistancies, Much upheaval with no warning to the employees, loss of hours and benefits with no recourse.or care, After 3 yrs, I could no longer accept the lack of honesty, work ethics, or even ethics as a company. Once the new CEO started to chase the money , they forgot about those who put it there. See them loosing their footing in Target and going to be just another dirty group of makeup on the shelf at Ulta.

    Advice to Management

what has made you unique and special is disappearing. Take better care of the BA's and they will take better care of you.

    Pros

decent pay, you work on your own with minimal supervision, great trainings.

    Cons

because it was under a pharmacy umbrella which staffed managers who knew nothing about cosmetics store management treated the beauty advisors poorly and rude. No room for growth within the stores.

    Advice to Management

teach the store managers to work well with others even though they do not share the same passion for cosmetics.
