    I worked at Boots part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Flexible schedule and hours.
    -No micro managing.

    Cons

    -Incredibly boring, I'm serious, I could be in a store for 6 hours just walking back and forth in the aisle.
    -Lonely work environment, you are there on your own!
    -Little support from Target, sometimes they even had no idea who I was.
    -No advertising, therefore few customers even knew the company. I would only have a good sales day if a product was featured on a tv show or magazine.
    -Unrealistic sales goals, and this position is all about your sales.
    -Strict dress code.
    -A product would run out of stock and wouldn't be restocked for weeks on end.
    -Management rarely has the initiative to settle issues that would come up, "just deal with it" attitude.
    -Terrible communication.
    -Rare opportunities for advancement

    Advice to Management

    Please add more than one BA to a store and have more in person meetings with the entire district.

    As a Beauty Adviser you are the face of Boots in your select Target store. In my market, people were very unfamiliar with the Brand and it was hard to "sell" consumers to trust something versus a project which was already "sold" to them by a commercial. Rave reviews and reliable products really help the cause.

    no training for makeup application
    sometimes you feel like you are a target customer service associate. many customers do not realize that you are NOT a target employee.. a lot of time i caught myself directing customers all around the store, at times i was even asked to walk them to different departments. they also ask for advice on products you are not representing

    Advice to Management

    More competitive compensation and weekly commission *versus monthly*. More ample sample cups should be distributed. More accessible "end cap" displays should be available during BA's on the clock shifts. Meetings should be in a more neutral location. It should be negotiated between the target team and the Boots BA different ways to make it clearer to customers that you are not a target salesfloor employee. more gratis should be allowed to boots reps.
    Keep up the good work selling a great product!

    Work In a fast past environment

    Annoying guest asking irrelevant questions
    Horrible manager, I should say dictator.
    No upper management support
    No chance of promotion even if you work super hard.

    Advice to Management

    Get involved with the feedback from the beauty advisors. We work the hardest and get the least recognition. Does not feel like a giant team AT ALL.

    The pay. The people I work with are a good group of people. And the diversity in the days of working on the photographic counter

    Cons

    The lack of staff on the photographic section. Sometimes the way we don't seem to exist upstairs in the photographic department.
