    Pros

interesting work, great company name, most people that work there are genuine, kind and knowledgeable

    Cons

there is very little organizational structure, you can get lost very easily, can be difficult to get billable work immediately, many things are out of your control

    Advice to Management

with little organizational structure, there needs to be better communication between teams, too much information is gained by word of mouth

    Pros

BAH is the best company I have ever worked for. They care about their people and make a point of hiring and retaining only the best.

    Cons

Low market share of the consultant work at Hanscom AFB. The company needs to make a firm committment to improving its market share.

    Advice to Management

Keep BAH private and don't go public. The company is a special place to work with great benefits that will erode over time if the company becomes accountable to shareholders.

    Pros

    - All my managers have been top quality - intelligent, competent, and supportive of my career growth
     - Challenging work
     - Quality team members
     - Work/life balance - 40 hr weeks
     - Lots of opps to get involved (social networks, COPs)
     - Training opportunities and resources (a lot of company money is invested in training people)

    Cons

    - Benefits of good project managers, location of work, quality team members, and functional clients is very much dependent on the project you are staffed
     - Recently ( 4/09) Consultant 1's are now overtime eligible - but overtime is not encouraged
     - It an take a significant amount of time to develop the competencies necessary for advancement (which is the basis for our 360 degree performance management system)
     - No library for corporate or academic research
     - No dedicated team for proposal work (all proposal work falls on consultants who are already 100% billable)

    Advice to Management

Provide staff with 100% tuition reimbursement and stock options (if/when BAH ever goes public)

    Pros

Firm reputation, resources available (especially in the areas of education and training), and flexibility. The firm has allowed me to move to various teams and to different areas of the country.

    Cons

Promotion potential is low, in-fighting between various teams for resources is frequent, lots of internal politics that are very draining.

    Advice to Management

The recent change in how promotions are conducted (especially from L1 to L2) is very frustrating. If you don't have a manager who is looking out for you, it is easy to get lost in the shuffle.

    Tremendous opportunity for continued self-improvement.

    Cons

Diffucult for satellite offices to feel like part of the Booz Allen Hamilton team.
Understanding of Booz Allen Hamilton procedures, policies and varies across the different teams and locaitons.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work at spreading the Booz Allen Hamilton family to all members of the company, especially those outside the DC Area.

Interesting work...good people....good benefits..work life balance, i would definitely recommend to anyone that would want to reasonably interesting work while having good balance...great benefits

    Cons

takes time to move up the chain especially as you get higher, salaries could be better they try to low ball you because of the brand

    Advice to Management

pay competitive salaries is decent, but there are definitely firms that pay better. %age increases each year are ok but not great could be better...

    Pros

It is easy to move around the company on various projects if you find yourself on one that does not suit your style.

    Cons

The culture is very Corporate America and as such can be extremely formal at times. However, if that is what you like then you are fine.

    Advice to Management

We need more flexibilities with younger consultants as well as the ability for younger consultants to have more of a hands on mentoring.

    Pros

Booz Allen offers a competitive total compensation package, but the real deal-sealer is the work-life balance it affords its employees. The right person can flourish with the lateral and upward mobility that is available here.

    Cons

Employees are only eligible for promotion or salary adjustment on an annual basis. While it is a thorough and relatively fair process, it is disappointing to wait a whole year to show progress against development items.

    Advice to Management

BAH is growing too quickly to retain the same culture that has made it successful. Focus more on retention and re-competes rather than ambitious growth targets that pad your 401(k)s.
