    Pros

Very open and non heirachical culture. Smart folks, but not arrogant

    Cons

Lots of fragmentation, no clear direction. Leadership did not have a good vision

    Advice to Management

    Get more focused

    Pros

Incredibly talented, down-to-earth and fun group of people that you get to share many hours, solving complex problems with. It's people make Booz an amazing consulting suite to work at. Leadership does truly care to make their consultants' lives better by listening to them and trying to work on improving various areas of the consultant life.

    Cons

Lacked sufficient scale to enable leadership to truly focus on charting its own path. The standard challenges of the industry of balancing work/life, getting on nightmare projects (travel, client, scope, etc.) are present, albeit it's a topic that leadership tries to mitigate, but the industry and its pressures are what they are.

I have been working at Booz & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wide variety of high-growth, high-impact projects: soft alignment model allows you to build strong industry specific knowledge (which becomes enormously valuable at the exit opportunity stage); high quality work environment with driven, and very social cohort of peers; down-to-earth culture

    Cons

Slow but sure decline in "brand" with PwC transaction: general lack of clarity on what things might look like for junior staff post the 3-5 year time frame; relatively longer path to partnership compared to other top tier firms; relatively fewer repeat projects with "prestige" corporate/sovereign clients, at least in the US region

    Advice to Management

Do something, quickly, about the eroding brand value proposition for junior staff! Either pay more, show a quicker way to senior leadership to retain the value proposition -- else wider attrition, and a lower quality talent pool, is bound to ensue

    Pros

Great place to build valuable skills and work alongside incredibly smart people. I left as a Principal and the amazing opportunities afforded to me given my experience and capabilities continue to surprise me. I can't imagine a better way to spend my time after b-school (except perhaps starting a company from scratch).

    Cons

Long hours, complex work and very high expectations and demands. Little time for a personal life, yet I was able to string together a fun social life. Would be harder I think for having a family.

    Advice to Management

Sorry to see it go to PwC but hopeful you can build a strong brand and reputation.

I have been working at Booz & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Smart, intellectually curious colleagues
    - Collegial culture
    - Practical strategists
    - Generalists augmented by industry expertise
    - Targeted focus on strategic clients
    - Good brand cache and exit opportunities

    Cons

    - Scale related issues on growing industry and geographic reach
    - PwC distraction resulting in top talent exploring other options

    Advice to Management

If the ATK-Booz merger couldn't go through due to "cultural compatibility", do you really think merging with a Big 4 accounting firm is a wise decision?

I have been working at Booz & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People are smart, humble, generally kind, and very hardworking. There are lots of opportunities for you if you take the initiative and are very proactive in seeking out projects and connections at the firm. Younger members of the team are often allowed to take on exception amount of responsibility.

    Cons

Sometimes the chain of command is too loosely structured and people at all levels are lost scratching their heads (esp. on a project with weak partners). "Up or on" system does not select for good leadership -- it selects for hard workers and crowd pleasers.

    Advice to Management

Allow Booz to take on more of an identity of its own. Let people be themselves and loosen up the appraisal system to focus more on how people contribute to the identity of Booz and a positive work environment rather than only on how much they please clients. This will allow us to build a sense of identity and comaraderie that will ultimately improve our work and client relationships.

    Pros

    Lots of smart, down-to-earth people

    Cons

Needs to do more strategy work in order to break into the tier of McK, Bain, and BCG

    Advice to Management

Folks who leave / asked to leave could be better treated and helped. If they were, alumni would recruit Booz for more projects for their current employers. As it is, Booz alumni are not as fond of Booz -- unlike peers from McK, BCG, and Bain
