    Pros

Wonderful place to work alongside really smart people

    Cons

Reactive. Sometime narrow focus on revenue generation and eliminating people based on the slightest drop in sales

    Advice to Management

Don't just Senior leadership who can sell - try to add new partners who can add intellectual value

    Pros

Challenging work, good set of colleagues at times and travel perks

    Cons

    Old Boys Club culture
    Business is very unstable
Little regard for people and their needs - this is not a place to have a long term career
Short sighted and incredibly arrogant leadership
    Did I say terrible culture?

    Advice to Management

Put your ego aside and try to be a decent firm. Treat your employees like human beings and stop pretending you're anywhere as close to MBB as you think

    I worked at Booz & Company full-time

    Pros

    - Impactful projects with top-name clients
    - Great place to start your career, especially right out of school
    - Industry practice alignment strengthens exit options
    - Perks of traveling consultant lifestyle
    - Very actively supporting female development (but long way to go)

    Cons

    - Training is weak. Don't know why we don't leverage more out-of-house training services.
    - Unclear project responsibilities between undergrad and MBA hires; diminishes value proposition for MBA hires.
    - Culture is acidic; very cut-throat, rumors are rampant and can be career-ending.
    - Lack of minority and female partnership is embarrassing and tell-tale of 'boy's club' partnership culture.
    - Knowledge transfer is weak. Poor systems for information sharing. No culture of cross-project learning.
    - Staff treated as a resource. Little thought to career development unless you've lasted 4+years
    - When business is slow, management is quick to bring out the axe

    Pros

Exceptionally bright colleagues. Real world problems with the ear of senior business people to fix them. Really bright, capable partners

    Cons

Widely recognized for a horrible culture. Cut Throat environment. *very weak* leadership

    Advice to Management

If it feels like the boat is sinking, look in the mirror!

    Pros

Overall good firm with new CEO trying to put Booz on right path. When business is good -- plenty of opportunity to go around.

    Cons

Lack of scale creates knee jerk environment when utlization is low. Leadership manages business 8 -12 weeks out... several Partners on management team lack leadership / mgmt skills. Poor communication from top down. Firm is having a bit of an identity crisis.

I have been working at Booz & Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Great brand name to have on resume
-Good experience and exposure, if you can network to the right projects
-Solid mentorship, if you can find the right people to look out for you

    Cons

-Requires knowing the right people: promotions not based on merit and project staffing is not based on skill set
-Staff consistently treated as a resource: little focus on developing talent, high burn out rate from being overwork, and often treated as less than humans, with a very passive aggressive and acidic culture
-Extremely cyclical business cycles: the lows are extremely low with more than 50% of staff on the beach. this resulted in a significant chunk of my starting class fired at 6 months into the job.

    Advice to Management

-If you want to hire and retain talent, treat your people well

  10. "Lots of Pros, Lots of Cons"

I have been working at Booz & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Decent training and development opportunities

    Cons

Very clear distinction between client staff and support staff. If you're part of the latter you often feel inferior. Very different pay scales between the two. Not much upward mobility. Promotions are rare and your manager has to "make a case" in front of a committee in order for you to get even the slightest promotion.

    Advice to Management

Motivate employees, have employees socialize among each other, improve morale, improve trust among employees.
