Great work experience, crummy culture
May 3, 2013 - Anonymous Employee in Washington, DCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Impactful projects with top-name clients - Great place to start your career, especially right out of school - Industry practice alignment strengthens exit options - Perks of traveling consultant lifestyle - Very actively supporting female development (but long way to go)
Cons
- Training is weak. Don't know why we don't leverage more out-of-house training services. - Unclear project responsibilities between undergrad and MBA hires; diminishes value proposition for MBA hires. - Culture is acidic; very cut-throat, rumors are rampant and can be career-ending. - Lack of minority and female partnership is embarrassing and tell-tale of 'boy's club' partnership culture. - Knowledge transfer is weak. Poor systems for information sharing. No culture of cross-project learning. - Staff treated as a resource. Little thought to career development unless you've lasted 4+years - When business is slow, management is quick to bring out the axe
- Former Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
Good pay, great experience, can move up the ranks quickly.
Cons
Company was consumed by PWC so I left. Not sure if there is still the same culture sitting within a larger company like that.
- Current Employee★★★★★
High potential firm that is actively addressing its shortcomings
Sep 13, 2010 - Associate I in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Intelligent colleagues - Project work is mostly strategic and aligned to c-suite priorities - Exposure to several different projects and clients - Opportunity to b ecome 'famous' for something, if you like - Strong focus on improving company culture and people value proposition
Cons
- Work-life balance is possible...as long as you manage it and accept the work part will be high - Limited in terms of infrastructure, general support and technology (not an area of high investment since spin-off) as compared to larger firms (though this is being addressed) - Limited training and development (again, this is being addressed) - Heavy emphasis on powerpoint production...sometimes feeling like "overkill" both on client engagements and for internal initiatives

Pros
Family-like supportive and entrepreneurial culture down-to-earth
Cons
Still small scale, and need to cultivate a unique firm culture
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Really good consultants to work with
Cons
A few of the partners do not fit with the broader firm culture and can be difficult to work with
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Opportunity to work with some of the smartest people
Cons
Culture is not well integrated across teams
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Great people, professional development focus, high-impact projects, respect for your personal time on weekends (generally), and lots of opportunities to contribute to the company culture.
Cons
Not sure what the culture will look like post-merger with PwC. Compensation is competitive but not quite as aggressive as some of the peers Booz claims to have in the consulting marketplace.
- Former Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Mixed experience which depends heavily on your industry alignment and job manager's personal agenda
Jun 25, 2012 - Associate in DubaiRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Some good people and good projects.
Cons
Too much travel in the Middle East and Leabanese mafia culture. Most expats usually leave in less than two years. Less strategy work in the Middle East than the overall firm.
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Good, smart people and exciting projects make this a good place to work. Each office has it own culture and it is important to find the right fit.
Cons
As is to be expected in a consulting company the travel is the only downside. There is also the unstability associated with an up-or-out system.

Pros
Very open and non heirachical culture. Smart folks, but not arrogant
Cons
Lots of fragmentation, no clear direction. Leadership did not have a good vision
