Great experience but suffering from lack of scale
Jan 23, 2014 - Director in London, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Quality of work done with clients Training PwC deal is a great move for Booz and very smart
Cons
Size (# consultants) impacts ability to provide depth of expertise that clients want and need. Still too much belief that can throw smart people at a problem and it will work out.
- Current Employee★★★★★
Very interesting projects, great people

Global Reach (Opportunities to work around the world) Different kinds of projects (From strategy, to organizational change and operations) Career opportunities (Great opportunity to wrok with senior people) Great people (Knowledgeable and caring)
Cons
No cons, but you have to know that working in top consulting firm is demanding. You will have to travel and you may have to work on weekends.
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
You get to work with very smart people and help Fortune 500 companies solve challenging problems
Cons
Long hours and last minute requests as expected in consulting

Great experience, but too many badly managed changes in recent years
Jun 17, 2011 - Associate in London, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Very talented and sharp people - Supportive network among colleagues - Little hierarchy - Variety of high profile engagements providing great exposure internationally - Great place if you enjoy travelling
Cons
- Too many changes in recent years since the break up from Booz Allen Hamilton (and before as a matter of fact) - Little direction from management - Bad communication / change procedures leading very mixed messages - Long hours and too much travel - Training unstructured - should be outsourced to professionals - Appraisal process needs reviewing as it does not consider between trade off between bill-ability and following up on development actions

High potential firm that is actively addressing its shortcomings
Sep 13, 2010 - Associate I in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Intelligent colleagues - Project work is mostly strategic and aligned to c-suite priorities - Exposure to several different projects and clients - Opportunity to b ecome 'famous' for something, if you like - Strong focus on improving company culture and people value proposition
Cons
- Work-life balance is possible...as long as you manage it and accept the work part will be high - Limited in terms of infrastructure, general support and technology (not an area of high investment since spin-off) as compared to larger firms (though this is being addressed) - Limited training and development (again, this is being addressed) - Heavy emphasis on powerpoint production...sometimes feeling like "overkill" both on client engagements and for internal initiatives

Pros
The work is challenging and you get exposure to high level executives on your projects. It is a decent career step right out of business school if you can handle the prospect of being fired any day.
Cons
Culture varies by offices. Employees are treated like disposable resources. Lay offs are taking place and even people who have been here just 6 months are being fired. This firm has no future and will be better off sold to a larger consulting organization that knows how to run a consulting business.

Pros
Great place to work for a short time of your career and learn the maximum. Smart and generous people.
Cons
Lacks cultural diversity in the Middle East. Very difficult to move ahead if you are not Lebanese.

Good company that can get so much better
May 29, 2013 - Senior AssociateRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Amazing peers and people all around - Access to C-suite and ability to make an impact at the highest level - Respect from all industries = great exit opportunities - Good pay
Cons
- No respect for personal life - Poor culture - Questionable leadership - Lack of scale

Has both the positives and negatives of a highly competitive consulting environment.
Dec 2, 2009 - AssociateRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Meaningful work with highly motivated, intelligent people. The projects that you get to work on usually have a huge impact on the organization, market and industry that you're working with. The people you work with are highly motivated and cometent type A personallities that stand by thier commitments and do quality work.
Cons
The highly motivated type A personalities drives a culture where your coworkers will slit your throat if they think it will get them to the next level faster. There's little incentive to staff anyone outside of your pyramid.

Good but has room for improvement

Very humble and smart people
Cons
Long working hours and limited amount of projects at certain practices
