    Pros

    Employee Discount on all purchases.
You're allowed to borrow books from the store, much like a library, however you may only borrow 2 books at a time.

    Cons

Management looked down upon cashiers despite the fact that we were the ones engaging with the customers, settling disputes, getting customers to donate books to children and getting customers to sign up for reward cards. Our hard work was never acknowledged, no room for improvement in the company and absolutely no raises.

    Advice to Management

Give raises to workers who earn them
Acknowledge the good work your cashiers put in

I worked at Borders part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked stocking the shelves and being that I have a detail-oriented personality, I found great satisfaction in helping to make the retail location look its best.

    Cons

Store closing at the end of the night could be very tedious as some employees took more time than others to finish their duties. To be delayed in leaving because someone else did not keep up as they were supposed to is one small con. What's a huge con is that some employees would stand and stare rather than help to get us all out of the store sooner.

    Advice to Management

I would take measures to make sure that all are held accountsable for their cooperation across departments at the end of each night.
