I worked at Borders part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The customers, the people that you work with, discounts on books and music. being surrounded by so many books at one time.

    Cons

low pay, bad management, no room for advancement. the music they play overhead was horrendous even though we had so much music to choose from

    Advice to Management

It's too late, they are already closed down. if they were still active, I would tell them to pay their employees more and give them more benefits.

I worked at Borders part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The atmosphere, working around books and coffee, was great. The customers weren't as terrible as the usual retail crowd. Also, the free book rentals was a nice perk!

    Cons

The hours were long, and every employee had an oversized list of responsibilities in exchange for a very meager salary with no vacation or sick leave. The better an employee was at the job, the less time off he or she would have. If a good employee requested off, Borders was more likely to reject it in order to keep the store running properly at all time (rather than simply hiring more competent workers).

I worked at Borders full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people were great. The only pros were the employee discount and the co-workers.

    Cons

There is a reason this place went out of business... They didn't keep up with the times and their employees were overworked and underpaid.
