I worked at Bose full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is an incredible design team at Bose. They continue to push each other to create better products and better experiences for the consumers. Great financial benefits and a great understanding of work life balance. Short on vacation days, though you do get a good amount of sick and personal time on top of vacation.

    Cons

There really isn't too much to complain about. They are a bit behind on vacation time, starting at 10 days and adding one day a year.

    Advice to Management

I believe management should work hard to help mentor and understand the career goals of the younger designers. The younger staff is often times left to fend for themselves when a mentor would help them develop quicker with potentially fewer mistakes.

  3. "Bose and lack of leadership qualities these days"

I have been working at Bose full-time

    Pros

Great teams, good lower level management

    Cons

Upper level management and overall direction is sadly heading downward.
Used to lead bit now leadership follows whichever way the wind blows.

There is no respect for the company from the new employees. Can be seen in the shabby way people dress. Some look like they just rolled out of bed and came into work late.

    Advice to Management

Pick a direction and be bold. Show respect for what and who you were and start leading again. This current path will end in disappointment for everyone.

I worked at Bose part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good discount on products, great sales training at high end is good preparation for a career in high end sales elswhere

    Cons

Bad pay, not recognising talent from within, general poor recruitment of managers, clear and blatant nepotism, lack of company vision. It is not run in accordance with the 'essence and values'

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, they are the advocates of your products and deal with customers face to face on a daily basis. Recognise talent and good ideas when you spot them.

    Pros

The best job I have ever had! Lots of great people with tons of passion and great work ethics.

    Cons

As with all organizations, Bose goes through continuous change. One opportunity to improve is to tighten up communications.

I have been working at Bose full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good people
    New Gym in Corporate center

    Cons

Upper level management squandering mature talent with voluntary retirements and layoffs.
Rumors running rampant causing motivation issues with employee's.
Changes in culture of corporation no longer value employees.

    Advice to Management

Since the Bain audit this company has taken a drastic turn for the worse. You've lost focus on whats important.
Dr. Bose was innovative and valued his employee's and would treat them all equally with respect and dignity. Stability and the feeling of being valued was important in the old Bose culture. The feeling now in the company is we're all expendable. Upper level management is more concerned with money, less concerned with the company culture and its people.
It really is sad to see what happened to this corporation.
What ever happened to Better sound through Engineering?
Now its all about the almighty buck.

I worked at Bose full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

During my time there, I was able to take on roles that played to my strengths but also stretched me. I always felt supported and that my input was valued.

    Cons

Like any organization, Bose is not for everyone. If you like to have a clear career path, you're not likely to find it here. Bose is for people who take initiative and don't care who gets the credit. The culture is very relationship oriented (a pro for most) but I put it here in case readers don't value a highly collaborative culture (some have called it too inclusive).

    Pros

At a peer level, Bose has great people to work with. Good benefits and at a high level, care about their employees

    Cons

Executives are clueless, the company has lost its soul since the passing of D. Bose.
