I have been working at Bose full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Incredibly smart people who have a passion for delivering great products
    - Majority of employees are humble and are happy to dedicate time to help you learn
    - They take the time to hire people who will fit well in Bose culture and dedicate a good portion of the interview process learning about you as a person
    - Because they take their time to find the right people, employees are given serious responsibility
    - 50% employee discount all-year round is an awesome perk

    Cons

    - Other perks/environment are fair but a little more emphasis could be placed on updated certain office areas, on-site gym, etc. (although they nail the areas that truly matter - people, culture, meaningful work)

    Advice to Management

    - Continue looking forward while staying true to the Bose brand
    - Continue to find top-level talent that also fits the Bose culture

I have been working at Bose full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The people is by far Bose's best asset. Work/life balance is highly valued. Benefits and salaries are good, but not great.

    Cons

Westboro & Stow locations aren't ideal to bring in the best talent. Hiring outside talent is often preferred over promoting internally. Company is too conservative in every way, from finances to marketing to culture.

    Advice to Management

Creative culture is a bit lagging from world class companies & agencies.

I worked at Bose full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great products, great benefits, good people to work with, good vacation plan, family oriented for the most part

    Cons

Trying to find their way since Dr. Bose is now gone. He was a great visionary and most of the great products had his influence on them. They now have become a small device selling company, such as headphones and blue tooth speakers.

    Advice to Management

Strive to give customers the whole experience for every possible device in their house, return your customer service call centers back to the United States where you have someone who really understands customers' needs.

I worked at Bose full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The upper management is in it for the long term and plans conservatively for the future and wants the company to stick around.

    Cons

There is a lot of competition in the consumer electronics sector. There are challenges ahead as they move away from manufacturing their own product transitioning to using more CMs.

    Advice to Management

    Choose the marketing strategy well.

I worked at Bose full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Interesting work, diverse environment, reasonable amount of autonomy

Be a little less stringent when some is eating at their desk

I worked at Bose part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They did a great job training me in sales. I learned a lot. They also " loaned" me a home theater system as an employee perk, which was great. Significant employee discount on good speakers.

    Cons

Retail job requires an emphasis on pushy sales techniques. Lots of downtime when the store isn't busy means lots of standing around. Promotion entails lots more work for minimal pay increase. High turnover means job instability - I went through 3 GMs in my 5 years here. Extra time commitment during the holiday sales rush.

    Advice to Management

Do more teambuilding activities to build a high performing culture. Setting daily goals (not sales numbers!) would keep employees challenged. Also, don't set company- wide sales goals; they're not a good motivator on an individual level.

I worked at Bose (Less than a year)

    Pros

Well structured intern program, with great exposure to the entire company. A sense of meaningful work since the products you work on might be seen by strangers on the street.

    Cons

Relatively old school company when it comes to culture. I'd like to see a more active culture.

    Advice to Management

Update the current culture to a more tech company feel

I worked at Bose part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great family environment selling products that I could absolutely believe in. While I was part-time, I could vouch for the benefits being awesome. Pays weekly instead of biweekly.

    Cons

Service has gone down due to outsourcing parts and tech to the phillipines and getting rid of the defection exchange.

    Advice to Management

    Bring back the defective exchange
