I worked at Boston Children's Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Supportive environment, hospital monetary incentives, positive environment, advanced from level I to IV within my time there as well as learned new skills

    Cons

The only con for me was the commute in/out of Boston

    Advice to Management

None. Now that there is a satellite closer to where I live I would love to regain employment

    Advice to Management

Implement a more efficient training process

  5. "Great place depending on the inpatient floor. Hard to move once you get a position. They spread their workers thin."

I worked at Boston Children's Hospital part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome environment...love working in teams on inpatient. Some people do care for you and check on you. It can feel like you have a family at work.

    Cons

Very tough with management, don't feel appreciated at times, feel taken advantage of. There is fine detail that one should carefully read.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees well and people won't leave after a year and a half or something. Most importantly appreciate your employees

I have been working at Boston Children's Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Enjoy the people on my unit, everyone is very helpful and supportive. Lots of resources for patients, Admin is constantly trying to improve pt experiences

    Cons

Things changing constantly for nurse practice and it can be hard to keep up. Some doctors are very hard to work with (most are great). Management has favorites.

    Advice to Management

Make sure RNs who want to get involved are given the time and opportunity.

I have been working at Boston Children's Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

So many opportunities to learn and develop new skills. No micro management, which allows you to prove yourself and let your quality of work speak for itself.

    Cons

Uncomfortable cultural issues between clinical and non-clinical staff. Fragmented processes that are difficult to address due to unwillingness to change. Bad old habits.

    Advice to Management

Do not just discuss change, create an environment where change can be facilitated.
