I have been working at Boston Children's Hospital full-time

    Pros

Great people, stimulating environment and many wonderful stories to tell as a communicator. Overall a well-run hospital delivering excellent care, second to no other pediatric hospital in the country.

    Cons

Career advancement can be a problem, though leadership has recognized this through employee surveys and is beginning to take steps to remedy. May vary by department.

I worked at Boston Children's Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    At Waltham CBAT:
Working with kids and seeing how resilient they are.
Good coworkers (for the most part)
    Good earned time

    Cons

    At Waltham CBAT:
Management is a struggle. Unit director has never been a counselor on a floor before
Counselors are treated as less than by the nurses an management
Counselors concerns about patients do not seem to have as much of an impact as they should
Counselors, the people who spend the most time with the kids, are not allowed in treatment meetings.
    Over-utilization of benign neglect techniques.

    Advice to Management

Value your counselors listen to what they have to say because they spend the most time with the kids.
Think of different options besides benign neglect techniques
Value you’re staff in general. I would have been much happier if someone recognized the extra effort I was putting in.

I have been working at Boston Children's Hospital part-time

    Pros

The best reason to work at Boston Children's Hospital is having the opportunity for your work to help Children. (Read as "if you're clinical staff")

    Cons

Childish behavior runs rampant throughout every department, from the administrative staff to the attending physicians. Management won't do much to fix it. You WILL dread coming to work.

    Advice to Management

Hold your employees to a much higher standard of professionalism.
