I have been working at Boston Children's Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Boston Children's Hospital does amazing work for their patients and families. I have been very proud to work there because of what they do. The department I work in now, has the best atmosphere and really values their employees. The hospital encourages and supports use of the benefits they offer, which is many.

    Cons

I've worked in a few different departments and it really depends on your manager whether you like your job or not. A year ago I would have gave a 2 star rating because I worked on a unit with really unprofessional people who did not uphold the hospital wide standard. There are no work from home opportunities. In this day and age to schedule appointments, and working in a call center position, you should be able to have at least some opportunities to work from home. Also while the BCH has great benefits, the pay is just not competitive. People in a variety of roles complain and eventually leave because of pay.

    Advice to Management

The hospital makes so much money, it should be more up to par with salary compared to other area hospitals. Require more education and training of people who work with families in regards to customer service, or front end staff. Technology is growing, keep up and give people work from home options if qualified. Bring back bonuses, that would be nice :)

I have been working at Boston Children's Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great mission; easy to see the value of the organization's work day-in and day-out. Nice benefits including discounts at many local businesses. Challenging, fast-paced work and you're encouraged to pursue professional development opportunities.

    Cons

Conservative and top-heavy culture. Many departments have a glut of managers and senior managers with not enough people producing. Very difficult to introduce change.
