    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Boston Consulting Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

collaborative culture, overall genuine people, 100% paid benefits, beautiful office, most roles have an opportunity for upward movement.

    Cons

Pay in some of the business service team roles are underpaid considering the high pressure environment, and expectations.

    Advice to Management

Often feels like only the consulting staff opinions matter.

I have been working at Boston Consulting Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Many of the good things that are advertised when you get recruited are true.
    - Smart co-workers
    - Such a strong brand, senior exec clients really listen to what you say and act on it
    - Consistent firm culture, and a lot of flexibilty to follow your own course and do any type of project you want to do (as long as you work hard and can do it really well)
    - All the private company perks (free proper coffee shop in the office! Lots of fancy office drink events, etc)

    Cons

A few big ones, in addition to the usual consulting life drawbacks (travel, unpredictability, best people eventually leave etc)...
    - Feel a bit underpaid (yep as the title says, 2015 & 2016 weren't great bonus years in NYC, even for people on promotion track). Hurts when you average 70 hours a week.
    - Lots of recent recruiting (esp. expanding the smaller offices), maybe too wide a net, and often left with a person or two on a team who aren't able to step up and deliver as well as the others.. more common than it used to be
    - Big company feel now, and so you feel that much more anonymous than when it was smaller

    Advice to Management

Don't spend all your money on shiny new offices and have no $$$s left over to retain the best people.
Consulting is obviously highly competitive to win client business, but don't over promise / under staff on quite so many projects. Letting so many projects get sold on the basis of "BCG discounting some of the costs" in practice just means we under staff the project.

    Pros

Collaborative culture with people who truly care about your personal development. Constant feedback ensures accelerated learning and development. Interesting, intellectually stimulating casework for the most part

    Cons

Hours can be somewhat tough, especially on travel cases. Constant feedback on performance can be a bit stressful

    Advice to Management

Management can continue to explore ways on how to make the job more sustainable in the long term and retain talent.

    Pros

    - Amazing culture
    - Smart and humble people
    - Very collegial environment

    Cons

    - Lose inferiority complex and stop overcomparing to McKinsey
    - Not much actually

    Advice to Management

We are not McKinsey. Better in some areas, and worse in others. We have a unique culture and a better recipe for long-term success in my view. Let's stop comparing ourselves to McKinsey in every aspect. They don't

    Cons

Not many cons to think of. Hours can be long but that's the case across the industry.

    Advice to Management
