Boston Consulting Group

When evaluating an offer’s health insurance plan, what are the elements to be considered? Monthly premium pulled from my paycheck, annual deductible or copay. Is there anything else to keep in mind? As much description as possible is helpful as I’m very early in my career and BCG had a very simple $5 copay on everything in network policy.

    Pros

    Happy hours, fun, young culture

    Cons

No trust in administrative services - micro management. Company on a whole does not value admin positions as demonstrated in both salary and behavior.

In most cases, a great place to work

    Jul 26, 2022 - IT Lead Developer

    Pros

The company gives plenty of opportunity to learn, to develop world class products, to work with great teammates, offers flexible working schemes and has a transparent performance/recognition process. They provide to every employee all the equipment needed to work, including last generation notebook and iPhone. The offices are comfortable, with many options of food and drinks for free. The salary is competitive and if you outperform you can earn up to 16% of your yearly base salary as bonus.

    Cons

The IT organization tends to impose work and demands that slow teams down and reduces the chances for generating value for clients sometimes.

    Pros

LOTS of free food, and again more food and great parties and diners at the expense of very generous (dumb?) clients (or maybe they have no idea where their $ go?). Great salary (although if you do the math by the hour you may not find it so attractive). Great benefits . Great learning and development options. You will meet some really smart (and arrogant) people; this will give you a chance to build a network for the future.

    Cons

The cons exceed by far the pros in my opinion. If you want to be part of an organization that values arrogance over knowledge, gossip and constant subjective evaluation over team group, and true organic added value, if you are a Trump fan and wish to be part of a group that admires and provides support to the Trump administration (CEO, Rich Lesser is a enthusiast) , if you want to be part of a white boys’ club that does not promote diversity (besides what they advertise there is almost no minority that reach the partnership level) then yes, this is the right “club” to join.

Great place to work, but if one mistake arises you are dead

    Pros

Everyone in there is highly intelligent and with very diversified backgrounds; you may find economics, mathematicians, philosophers, several type of engineers, administrators, etc ... There are several (like 20) guys with good salary and desire for party. Great salary packages and retributions. It opens your mind to many themes and you have a great networking. You may hear on the halls 4 different languages and with some luck you will be traveling to any part in the world. They have a special weekend for training were you go to a distant place and have fun and learning at the same time. They can sponsor a MBA program in a top 10

    Cons

There are weeks that you work as hell, close to 120 hours a week for 2 or even 3 weeks in a row. There is not a real balance in your life, you live to work. As everyone is intelligent, the atmosphere may become a hard competition for a small bit of recognition. If your generation is a huge one there will be problems for the sponsorships for MBA. As you work worldwide you may have a pretty early call conference with Europe and then a pretty late on with Australia, so you work 20 hours and you cant move away from the office
