I worked at Boston Pizza full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Can make great money if you're in cocktail or bartend and handle taking eight plus tables at a time.

    Cons

Dining room is always slow, servers are lucky to walk out with $50 bucks on a night shift. There is also a culture of underage drinking and over serving and should likely be investigated by TABC.

    Advice to Management

There are better opportunities with other similar chain restaurants that employees of all levels are treated substantially better.

      Pros

great customers that live withing gagetown that are friendly and caring, good magement team, small town feel. lots of tips to be made on sunny days

      Cons

seasonal job that ends after the boating season is over, owner doesnt seem to be there to support her staff, only busy on nice days there for very weather dependent on when you will make enough money to get by

      Advice to Management

have inventory set up properly, organization is always all over the place, better menu set up, more drinks available, air conditioning and fans need to be placed strategically around the restaurant for the really hot days

I worked at Boston Pizza full-time for more than a year

      Pros

My best nights I made over $200 in tips You get tipped out by all servers Reasonable tip out 2.5 kitchen

      Cons

Unreliable hours They cut you after an hour of work They cut your shift before you put your apron on You end up having to host Unhappy staff and unpleasant work environment Not collaborative, no one helps you when you're busy Inefficient and poorly run restaurants

      Advice to Management

I'm not sure there is a fix. You would need to tear down the whole system and start from scratch.

I have been working at Boston Pizza

      Pros

      Extremely flexible. Fun job.

      Cons

My particular location is very concerned about the bottom line, which takes away from servers and bartenders having to pull extra duty if the restaurant is short staffed due to labor percentage being too high for the week, as well as inventory being slim. Management can be hit and miss, have worked for 5 different locations and have seen everything by now.

      Advice to Management

Worry less about labor cost and more concerned about the quality of the service and food, over time the reputation will grow and sales will increase and labor % will be manageable again

I have been working at Boston Pizza full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Great ability to generate tips, great co workers, a location that is both fast paced during events at the stadium nearby and slow enough to get intimate with customers and generate regulars and great relationships.

      Cons

Low communication with higher management, has the tendency to be disorganized, heavy reliance on senior staff. Poor planning and equipment at times.

I worked at Boston Pizza full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Always busy, super easy menu and pos system.

      Cons

      Mandatory high heels for servers.

      Advice to Management

I think you need to put more thought into your management teams, they are severely lacking in maturity.

I worked at Boston Pizza full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Fun environment, flexible schedule, friendly staff, friendly customers, good income potential, half price meals, make good friends.

      Cons

Poor scheduling, either understaffed or overstuffed, incompetent managers, no support from upper level management, managers help when they feel like it, lack of training for new staff members. New employees thrown in the fire and expected to learn as they go which can be overwhelming on everyone working. All good mangers left so the store is going down. Get out while you can.

      Advice to Management

Please schedule accordingly. Do some basic research to identify which days might be busy (big sports events, first day of holidays, etc.). Hire competent staff, or at least provide adequate training so they have a chance to reach their potential. Treat all staff equally. Stop showing favouritism. Try and connect with your staff and build employee morale.
