I worked at Boston Pizza full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

If you love Restaurant jobs, then this is a typical restaurant job.Sports bar atmosphere, family restaurant and for most part fabulous guests.

    Cons

Aspiration to be everything for everybody means no focus on core guests, lost sense of direction and a Senior (Corporate) management which sets high standards with no balance to reality. Very poor work-life balance as focus is on Labor Costs

    Advice to Management

Focus and define your core customers. Dont keep changing focus every 2-3 years.value your employees, they are what makes your restaurants BP

    Disapproves of CEO

    I worked at Boston Pizza

    Pros

Comp'ed meals. Thats it. There werent any great perks that came with the job.

    Cons

Managers were rarely found. Felt like they were hiding from any issues..very sneaky. The owner fired a loyal manager for 10 years+. What was worse about it, this person used his AGM to do the dirty work to save himself the guilt. This is also a franchise... cannot grow your career unless you marry into the family. Only good for learning the basic fundamentals of how this business run. I suggest being there for no...

    Advice to Management

More to the owner.... get out of the business since you clearly dont know how to run one.

I worked at Boston Pizza full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The staff at my location was amazing and more than a great reason to work there. Great employee discounts and still treat me like family although i haven't worked there for a few years.

    Cons

Managing wasn't the greatest as I wasn't actually taught very much although promised that's what would happen. Also after quitting (gave my two weeks and worked them out) wasn't given my last two bonuses.

I have been working at Boston Pizza part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Great Experience dealing with teams and with guests - Autonomy and responsibility - A lot of guest interaction - Every work day is always different, never a dull day in the industry

    Cons

    - Minimal training - Variable hours, late night closing is sometimes draining - Minimal room for advancement within each specific location - Working in the service industry is extremely fast paced and at times can be highly stressful * Keep in mind this review is based on a store level (individual franchise), not at a corporate level.
