    Pros

401k, bonus, high exposure to industry professionals.

I worked at Boston Properties full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The environment is pretty laid back

    Cons

The company does not promote from within. They are hesitant to promote women. Many upper level management are retired cops who just want to collect a second income, and don't really want to do work.

    Advice to Management

Take fewer than 7 months to hire new employees, and promote your current employees.

    Pros

    Best in class benefits.
    Match 401k 6%

    Cons

Difficult to move up within company. Tend to hire from the outside.
Salary is not on par with peers in the industry. Many within company feel same way.

    Advice to Management

Research what avg pay for each dept is vs peers in industry in each market.
In addition, 2% raise is certainly not standard in CRE industry.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Boston Properties full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I think the best reason to work here is the exposure to large scale projects and investments. The people are bright and the history of the company's leadership had been good.

    Cons

There can be a little complacency driven by the tenure of senior employees and the relatively static nature of the business. Those seeking an entrepreneurial environment will find themselves frustrated by the rigid nature of a a large public real estate company

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing and be more transparent about the cyclical nature of the business and it's potential impact on long term employment up front within the recruiting process

    Pros

exciting projects and properties in and around the city. great office locations, good coworkers, decent atmosphere.

    Cons

not very focused on good employees and keeping them except for certain areas. old school views that aren't helping the company tap into the current job seekers or keep the younger employees. low salary for lower level positions.

    Advice to Management

grow your younger employees instead of letting them leave. pay them what they deserve based on their work and experience.

    Pros

    Good benefits, pay and location.

    Cons

Upper management doesn't pay attention to your feedback. It's a million dollars company but they're still very cheap. Very unorganized. Still a very old fashion company doesn't really like changes when most of the employee here are younger.

    Advice to Management

Be more open to new ideas and actually implementing them.

I have been working at Boston Properties full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are very good and there are a lot of wonderful people

    Cons

Hiring process is so slow that good candidates are lost to other offers. Pay is low with minimal 1.5-2% annual raises. Work load varies by department as do benefits like summer Fridays which are not available to all. Company prefers to move employees to new positions internally rather than hire from outside to avoid having to pay higher (market) salaries

    Advice to Management

The old moto of "our employees make us the success we are" has been completely forgotten. Stop treating employees like they are replaceable, work ethic is suffering. Find a way to vet new hires quicker so BP has at least a chance at filling some of the open positions. It is sad to see so many good people leaving but management has left employees with little choice to pursue advancement or salary increases
