I worked at Boston Properties full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The environment is pretty laid back

    Cons

The company does not promote from within. They are hesitant to promote women. Many upper level management are retired cops who just want to collect a second income, and don't really want to do work.

    Advice to Management

Take fewer than 7 months to hire new employees, and promote your current employees.

    Pros

    Best in class benefits.
    Match 401k 6%

    Cons

Difficult to move up within company. Tend to hire from the outside.
Salary is not on par with peers in the industry. Many within company feel same way.

    Advice to Management

Research what avg pay for each dept is vs peers in industry in each market.
In addition, 2% raise is certainly not standard in CRE industry.

I have been working at Boston Properties full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, good benefits, opportunity to promote within the company.

    Cons

Seems to be a minimum of 2.5 years on average before you are able to promote. When I first interviewed I was told that BP really likes to hire from within but quickly learned that many assistant property manager and property manager positions end up being filled from outside the company. Another con is that I feel it is a very hierarchal company where you feel like you are expected to walk on eggshells and act/dress a certain way in front of certain higher-ups. I guess I am not used to that from other companies I have worked for in the past.

    Pros

Company is enthusiastic about the work. There is a lot of room to grow at the company learning may different skills beyond what you expected to learn

    Cons

The ability to move up in the company can be difficult. The company is growing but the space in which they occupy is not.
