I have been working at Boston Scientific full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

What you do makes a difference, will be given a lot of freedom to operate.

    Cons

People stay a long time. Location is not optional. Very quick to restructure, although that mentality is waning.

I have been working at Boston Scientific as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Very nice experience overall. They tend to be hands off once the trust is gained. The job was executed with minimum politics. good balance of high and low risk tasks to allow for a solid product development

    Cons

Like many large organizations decisions could be done a bit more promptly. The mix environment MS - SAP - Oracle will increase complexity.

    Advice to Management

Consider to use cloud computing to gain more agility.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

There are some dedicated, seasoned professionals remaining from much company transition. Good medical device products after much emphasis on quality & control. Good work environment (St Paul).

    Cons

'Reductions in Force' have ravaged the talent pool forcing remaining staff to take on more & sometimes leading to costly mistakes. Marketing appears to be a revolving door. As an independant, the financial deparment (payment system) lacks in experience/professionalism. Research is lagging... this is a potential death sentence for a Medical Device company.

This comapnay is now board-room driven & lacks the leadership that made it 'buy-able'. Good luck now riding past performance. Wall Street is watching.

    Advice to Management

In thecompany buy-outs (i.e., Guidant) management has never fully understood what they 'purchased' (in human capital) nor understood how to best utilize potential. Work with your employees! Less talk & more walk-the-walk.

CEO is overpaid. Not the best spokesperson for the company.
