I worked at Boston Scientific full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Boston Scientific has an exceptionally strong CEO and Executive Team that has enabled outstanding growth over the last decade, and they have aligned the company around a mission that is truly patient focused. The employees are bright, dedicated, and collaborative. Together they create a culture which is friendly, inclusive, and focused on making a difference the lives of patients.

    Cons

Over the last three years, the organization has seemingly lost its way around the importance of people development. Particularly in the area of HR, they have seemingly tolerated very weak and inappropriate leadership; they have dismantled one of the best global talent management functions in the country and abandoned their approach to engagement, internal development, best in class capabilities, and work/life balance. Employees, and especially high potentials, are extremely frustrated with the lack of leadership, sponsorship, and career development and are ready to leave the organization. Most are finding their roles more tactical than strategic and are seeing such an increase in demands that they cannot maintain a reasonable balance of work/life. Most are seeing an org structure which is so lean that they cannot begin to meet the real needs of their clients.

The CYA mentality such that everyone has an ulterior motive. They talk about work/life balance, but actually expect you to be available to work all the time.

    Approves of CEO

I worked at Boston Scientific full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    1. Great work life balance 2. The CEO is outstanding and has developed great leadership team. 3. The CIO has a good vision and is aggressive. 4. Some of the senior leaders (Directors/VPs) look out for top talent in IT and will support even if you don't work for them. Connect with them for better growth.

    Cons

    1. If you are not in the trusted inner circle of the VPs, your growth is constrained in that department even if you were a top performer in other pillars. You better change the pillar or look out. On the other hand, if the VP likes you, you will grow no matter what you do.
