    Pros

Good PTO and sick time. Benefits are very affordable with decent coverage. Monday through Friday schedule.

    Cons

I think it really depends on the department you are in. For me, the department I was in, the training was pretty much non-existent. And what made it worse was the "trainer" was extremely condescending and made intelligent people feel stupid. They claim to work "for and with each other" but it is very much cutthroat. Daily results are posted for all to see so it makes for a stressful atmosphere. It is common knowledge that they clean house every year. Starting in a new company, learning a new job, you are either a "rock star" or your days are limited.

    Pros

    Great salary and decent benefits.

    Cons

It is a software development sweat shop where they squeeze every ounce of life out of you with too many hours and you are not treated well.

    Advice to Management

Stop relying on slogans and buzz words ad treat your people fairly.

I have been working at Bottomline Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits. Competitive salary. Nice non management employees. Free coffee. Good locations.

    Cons

Illegal practices and reporting. Horrible work/life balance. If you work hard, you are simply asked to work harder. Clear and present favoritism. People in position to do so higher family even if not qualified. Company could be twice as profitable and 5 times as great to work for.

Random firings throughout year. Seen good and more productive employees randomly fired simply because, while more incompetent and less productive employees kept because they are friends with managers.

    Advice to Management

The CEO is a choke point. Company might be profitable but could be twice as much. Management should look at managers and see if there is room for improvement, I assure you there is. Just because someone is a manager does not mean they are a good manager.

I worked at Bottomline Technologies full-time

    Pros

Great location, great facility, great co-workers. This COULD be one of the best places to work on the Seacoast IF changes at the top were made.

    Cons

THE problem at Bottomline is the CEO. He "leads" by intimidation and fear, NOT inspiration. Constant fear of being terminated for the tiniest of "infractions". It's a well known fact that there are strong suggestions to employees to write positive reviews on Glassdoor. If you have to ask, a company doesn't deserve the good press. If you like living in fear, get a job here.

    Advice to Management

    Fire the CEO

    Pros

Don't have any pros for this company.

    Cons

Company spent a lot of money trying to develop a simple web service, a restful api and failed miserably. The management put people who have no knowledge of the technologies in charge of the project. Those people only know how to play politics. They completely ruined the project.

    Advice to Management

Put the people who can do the job to the position. Not the people who can talk and who can go to bar with you after work.

    Pros

People. The people at this company really do work with and for each other. The people are one of the only things that keep most of us coming back each day.

    Cons

The kool-aid is a true thing here at Bottomline... People are not treated equally, pay is all over the place. College students that get hired as part of the special "College Program" get paid more than some employees that have quadruple the experience and have worked in the company for multiple years. Only certain people who are "connected", to the upper echelons, get invited to special company events like Christmas Parties and Summer outings..

The "open door" policy... is only an open door on your way out. (when you get laid off 15 days before Christmas) There is no open door. Nearly everyone I have ever spoken to is afraid of HR and they are supposed to be the most supportive in the company and help when you need it.

POLITICS POLITICS POLITICS... A "flat" organization... What a joke! Dicatorship might be a better word... the simplest things are a huge process and anything that might actually move the company forward into the 21st century gets turned down. Technology and systems are a mess. They continually buy more and more tech and software.. under use it or set it up wrong and then say it was the technology that didn't work. Finally, the worst and most unhealthy con.. is the undermining attacks and treatment by the C level. One day might be all smiles and the next you are fearing being fired for what might be the smallest mistake (Like printing something on the wrong type of paper)

    Advice to Management

The Board of Directors seriously needs to read these reviews, step in and make changes. There are so many mid level management members that are successful but, they are blocked by hierarchy, politics and processes that never end. Hoping something happens soon... this is going downhill fast..

    Pros

Smart people in lower level positions really try hard to make it work here.

Some nice perks like fruit and gym membership reimbursement.

    Cons

Every other facet of the company. Literally all areas of the company sucks. The only reason anyone stays is because of a sense of loyalty to the people they works with prior to being purchased by Bottomline.

Or they stay because they have no concept of work/life balance or self respect.

    Advice to Management

Stop writing fake reviews. Funny how you have a "QA Tester" write a glowing review on Jan 4th.

Having personally worked in the QA Department here I can tell you that there is no position titled "QA Tester". So the HR department that wrote this review should probably do research first. And no self respecting QA engineer or analysts would call themselves a QA tester. That's a term used by those with no clue of the industry...like HR or upper management.

    Pros

    Competitive salary and benefits
Interactions with the Rhode Island office were fantastic; very energetic, involved, and professional.

    Cons

Uncomfortable and sometimes hostile work environment; highly unprofessional
No attention given to work/life balance, culture, and values.

    Advice to Management

Treat staff members with courtesy, respect, and grace.
Negative reinforcement and degradation are not sound management strategies.

    Pros

Co-workers that are not managers are great. Unique product lines and partners are good to work with. Free ice cream.

    Cons

Anyone with a manager title. They lay off ALL THE TIME, and they let go hard workers with the better attitudes. I've seen too many good people laid off just so their profit margins look good.
Petty, condescending and judgmental managers who play favorites and if you are not in their circle, your life will be miserable here. Run as fast as you can from this company, as they are trending and spiraling down. Most of the positive reviews are mandated by management or created by HR in an attempt to cover how corrosive and toxic this place is.

    Advice to Management

Advise? As if anyone in this company would listen. Most of the tenured team that has had to watch great people leave or get laid off are actively looking to leave.
