I have been working at Boyd Gaming part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Awesome Social Experience
    Energy rich environment
    Fair and Frequent Breaks

    Cons

Static hourly rate, rather than tip-based.
    Weekends almost always busy

    Advice to Management

Performance Checks are inefficiently designed at improving customer experience.

I have been working at Boyd Gaming full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I really couldn't imagine working anywhere else in Las Vegas. Boyd Gaming's unique culture flows down from Bill Boyd, who truly values and respects every person who works for the company. If you ever see Bill visit one of his casinos -- and spend time talking to every single team member -- you'll understand why this company is different than the rest in Las Vegas.

    Cons

Every company has its share of issues, but no deal-breakers here, at least as far as I am concerned.

I have been working at Boyd Gaming full-time

    Pros

Boyd is a large company with considerable opportunities for advancement but unlike some other large gaming companies, still seems to genuinely value its employees and tries to factor negative impacts to the team into its strategic moves. Overall, I would recommend them.

    Cons

Introducing innovation is like trying to change tidal forces. It is not that new ideas are not valued, it's more that the team is not always open to new methods, and are quick to see a better way as some sort of threat.

    Advice to Management

Support innovation! Encourage team members to think creatively to automate their jobs by actively creating new roles and tasks for them to move to. Normal attrition will take care of the extra workforce. If not, offer cross-training programs to help line-level employees develop a better understanding of the business.

I have been working at Boyd Gaming full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, okay insurance, fun place to work, everyday is different.

    Cons

Smoky, weekends, no life. Pay needs to increase, need to create rotating schedules for all departments.

    Advice to Management

Christmas Holidays need to be observed, respect your team members that work hard all the time, day in and out, let them enjoy family time.

    Pros

Good company to work for. They have a variety of jobs to choose from. You can really become something working at a place like that.

    Cons

The point system is for good, but a lot of people have difficult lives and cant be there like thats the only responsibility in their life. I think its a bad idea.

I worked at Boyd Gaming full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Amazing Benefits, training is superb and all of the employees are fun to be around. Probably the best benefits package of all the major Nevada gaming companies.

    Cons

There are very few down sides to working at Boyd. Advancement opportunities are unlimited and pay is fair. This is a solid company.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. Stay fair and keep offering amazing benefits. I have two children and both were born while I worked for Boyd. Very little out of pocket expense and great coverage.
