I have been working at Boys & Girls Clubs full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Co workers in other departments are amazing! Benefits ok pay ok... the kids were the most important part.

    Cons

Upper management is terrible. Hard to believe both HR and senior management haven't caught on that they are losing a lot of new talent to keep higher level employees that are bad at thier job. Turn over happens for a reason! If a department or specific manager keeps losing people THERE IS A REASON! and it's not because all the people that left were bad at thier job... Foundation relations is terribly run and the manager of that team is hands down terrible. Hoping senior leadership will wake up and realize who the real problem is.

    Advice to Management

You don't listen to your lower level employees enough. You all meet for hours and hours amount one another while the lower level is baring all the weight of the work.

I have been working at Boys & Girls Clubs full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The organization has a great mission and it provides an opportunity to really make a difference in young lives.

    Cons

The pay is barely a livable wage and I had to find 2 additional side jobs to get by. For all the work they expect and all the energy I put into this position, the compensation is pretty pathetic. There is high turnover, probably because people can't afford to work here for long. The HR department is awful and never responds to e-mails so the hiring process was a joke.

    Advice to Management

Pay the people who actually interact with the kids a livable wage.

Management is all over the place, cares about the $$ not the kids.

    Advice to Management

Provide for these children as you should, parents pay for your services!

    Pros

Pay for tuition from University of Phoenix

    Cons

They claim they never have any money to pay employees or provide resources for kids. Yet EVERYONE in upper management makes 6 figures and even up to 500,000

    Advice to Management

B e good to your employees they put out what you put in that's why the turnover rate is so high and there's a revolving door and other programs will past you all.

    Pros

I enjoyed being able to work with the adolescents and make a difference in their lives. I try to keep in contact with some to keep guiding them. They are the only pro.

    Cons

The administration was very unorganized. While I was there we didn't get paid on time 4 times and they took aways direct deposit while being audited. We were also placed at a school, so had to abide by the rules of 3 different parties.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees. Most of them are there out of love for children and adolescents.
