Great place to learn leadership skills
Jun 7, 2023 - Youth Development Professional (YDP) in Garden Grove, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Really loved how welcoming each team is and familiarizing you with the sites. They really emphasize teamwork and new ideas. I learned to really take lead with my kiddos and push through their nervousness I had with the support of my team.
Cons
Some kids can be difficult to work with and disrespectful

It was my dream job
Jun 7, 2023 - Director of Operations in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I had ample opportunities to grow and learn and complete extra tasks to grow as a professional. As a trusted professional, I was able to work autonomously.
Cons
Due to the politics in the organization, I was looked over for many opportunities and promotions, despite being the most valued employee at my level.

Chaotic With Office Politics Rivaling Game of Thrones
Apr 23, 2023 - Director in Atlanta, GARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great Pay Good benefits You work with incredibly talented people You can really kickstart your career as long as you are loyal friends to managers.
Cons
Constant restructures. Talented people get hired and leave within 2 years because their team doesn't get the support they need. Deeply political. Departments fight against each other. I was encouraged to hide work I was doing from the department I technically worked for because it made my current department look bad. Management promoted close friends. Corporate structure made it easier to hide incompetence. There were no systems of accountability. When leaders realized moral was really bad, it came as whiplash. The reality was that these problems had been there for awhile but because of the above factors, there was no incentive or reward for sharing critical feedback.

Important Work...Incompetent Management
May 11, 2023 - Program CoordinatorRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The work done at BGCNEO improves the lives of the youth in the community in a very real way. It is so special to make positive connections with the students in clubs, and to expose them to opportunities in the arts.
Cons
Management is always asking for more, and willing to give nothing. The organization is always trying to expand, but does not set up employees with the proper staff, pay or training to meet those demands. My personal supervisor tends to delegate various responsibilities, in the name of our specific program, but does not follow through on the same obligations herself. Additionally, it seems as if there is no room for advancement in program coordination.
