I have been working at Bradford White full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Definitely the place to work if you don't have well defined work ethics!

    Cons

Unfair treatment of employees. Compact policy is usually only followed after filing a greivance through the Union.

I worked at Bradford White full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This is a good company for people just needing a paycheck. Good pay for the area and ok benefits. Most of the workers are there just to do their jobs and go home.

    Cons

Management does not care about the workers. They make jokes about it. They are happy to use people up and get rid of them. Work hours are in constant flux. You may work 8 or 10 hrs (or more) with virtually no notice as to which until the end of the day. Makes it very hard to plan for daycare etc. WAY TO MUCH gossip and drama here. Management is a lot of the problem. A large amount of supervision is sleeping or involved with people on the floor. Which leads to a lot of favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Send supervision to classes to learn how to be more professional. Absolutely ridiculous that the Generals come out on to the floor and can curse at and belittle the supervisors and engineers in front of the workers. And makes Supervisors actually learn how to do the jobs of the departments they are running. Second shift is especially bad with the blind leading the blind.

    Pros

Great health insurance benefits. Life insurance, dental, and vision for salaried employees a plus.

    Cons

Unrealistic workload per employee. Poor communication. Poor management. Lack of creativity. Few minorities and women in leadership positions. Likability factor favored over experience and natural abilities.

    Advice to Management

Use the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-Related) method for employee performance management and personal development.

    Pros

Good place to work good environment

    Cons

Pay could be more on level with other welding jobs

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your welders they know more then you give credit for

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Bradford White (More than 3 years)

    Pros

None - People were very unprofessional at this level. Not really challenged as an Engineer. Really surprised at the level of technical knowledge missing from the staff.

    Cons

Lab has been around for years, manager is a throw back from a previous company. Technicians were hard to work with. One of them was an out right nut on a power trip. Thinks because he can run a test that he is an engineer. Didn't make the grade and was put back in his place as a tech, now he is just a pain to work with.

    Advice to Management

Get some professionals in this place.

I have been working at Bradford White full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of jobs to learn around the plant lots of friendly people plenty experience to be learned also pay is good on some jobs

    Cons

Management sucks, one of the laziest union branches, due to the union there is ALOT of people who shouldnt have a job there and lots of lazy people!

    Advice to Management

Start getting after the lazy people wether people the union butts in or not

I have been working at Bradford White full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay (although nowhere near other UAW shops), company pays for insurance

    Cons

Unpredictable hours: you never know until the last minute whether you'll be working 8 hours in a week or 58. All information comes through the rumor mill, management refuses to pass word until they are mandated to do so by the contract. It's also common for supervisors to be having affairs with their subordinates (especially new hires) and the company is apparently okay with it. As for becoming a supervisor: it's only an option if you join their current buddy network.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your employees. Promote based on skill and performance, not drinking buddies. Get your supervisors to start caring about quality work, rather than just numbers.

I have been working at Bradford White full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, benefits, 401k matching. Employees are easy to work with

    Cons

Summers are very hot. When you need a supervisor to take care of a problem, they usually give you the run around. They tell you that they will fix the problem, but nothing ever gets done till you drag the union into the matter.
    No personal days
In the company's eyes you are nothing to them.

I have been working at Bradford White full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, benefits, and lots of overtime to take advantage of.
Good people to work with and work for as it's a union shop.

    Cons

    Long hours
    Production and design flaws
    Inadequate training for new employees

    Advice to Management

They really ought to implement a system for training new employees in a work area that suits their current/past work skills (if any)

I have been working at Bradford White full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A growing company that is currently undergoing expansion, Job security/stability, Health insurance.

    Cons

Communication (i.e.,ideas of manufacturing processes, and product improvement etc.) between management and workers., Excessive overtime(58hrs+ per week M-Sat.), poor ventilation, no fault attendance policy with zero sick days, Monetary bonuses with goals that can not be reached.

    Advice to Management

Communication with union employees would be a good start to improving the moral of the workers. Between the excessive overtime and the workers not feeling like the company cares about them has driven the moral of the workers down.
