I worked at Brady (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, try to keep you in the business. People that work their are very confusing to read. They are laid back one day and intense the next.

    Cons

Hard to move up. People are relatively friendly but the culture is defiantly a corporate culture with a cut throat environment. High stress

    Advice to Management

Be more friendly with your co-workers and explain to the individuals how they can move up in their career. Take them out occasionally and give them good projects

I worked at Brady full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people. Some cool internal projects and opportunities to work across functions and departments. I had the chance to be a part of internal teams that allowed me to do things beyond just my job description. A big focus on business operations and how things work.

    Cons

It was company that made me feel invisible. For as much as leadership talked about values and opportunity, I never felt so overlooked. I couldn't get approval to go to conferences or take classes (even though some of those are benefits promised by HR, budget cuts prevented them from being a reality).
I wanted to be ambitious but it was lost of management. I left because I had nowhere to go, even with some internal people advocating for me.With cut benefits, no bonus and not even cost of living wage increases, it didn't make any sense to stick around.

    Advice to Management

You're doing it wrong. And a lucky you still get good pay and benefits, something to think about when you take it away from the workers.

I have been working at Brady full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You’ll notice a recurring theme in the “Pros” section of reviews about Brady--the people are great. A significant amount of time is spent creating a family-like culture throughout the organization, and it shows. Aside from the great culture, the company has a fierce desire to grow.

    Cons

Participating in an increasingly commoditized market is nothing short of difficult, and this often withers the creative team down to its core. In my opinion, the only chain holding Brady back from continued success is that of being Risk Averse. Fear not, Brady is merely one spontaneous wager away from the next wave of innovation.

    Advice to Management

Now that F. Jaehnert has stepped down as CEO, don’t be afraid to jump into the darkness with both feet--it’s what you need to accelerate into the future.

    Pros

Brady has somewhat of a family atmosphere and yet much is expected from each department and each person to perform. Brady is innovative, but is somewhat slow in getting new ideas to market due to internal documentation requirements.

    Cons

Brady has promoted some key management people that maybe should not be there.
These people have made some poor decisions on acquisitions, as well as eliminating positions of senior people in the company. When the economy turned down, the company has made some key decisions that have hurt them.

    Advice to Management

Advice: Stay with core competencies and what made Brady successful throughout history. Stay with the original plan to work thru key distribution partners and keep senior people in the company.

    Pros

Due to its relative small company size, you get to take on tasks that might not be possible with much larger MNCs, good for professional growth.
Office politics are there but less complicated compared to other companies.
Friendly place to work. Great co-workers.

    Cons

Frequent direction changes at Management level; too impatient to wait for results.
Management believes that the big quantum leap will come from hiring people from big MNCs, always ended up hiring drop-outs from declining big brands.

    Advice to Management

Set realistic, not lofty goals, don't just try to please the wall streets. Stop wasting money on consultants. Big change will come from some change out of the top management team. Believe in giving opportunities to middle management that has been loyal to the company
