I worked at Brady full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Loved the people I worked by and with. Everyone is cheerful and friendly.

The CFO is awesome, the CIO is very cool, and the CEO is making some good changes.

The work-life balance is great! Most managers are very understanding that life happens and allow for working from home as needed.

    Cons

    Horrible HR leader.

Brady seems to be ok with being mediocre, and it's never going to go anywhere.

There's a very clear divide between corporate and the businesses.

    Advice to Management

If you want to make Brady a better place, start with HR! The current top is incredibly unethical, rude, prejudice, fake, and overall someone who should NOT be in HR.

I worked at Brady as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Most of the people I worked with were great and I learned a lot
    Flexible schedule

    Cons

    Micromanaging
Promote people to management who should not be

    Advice to Management

Train people before promoting them to supervisors.

I loved my job until 8 months into it, when they decided to "restructure". I had to report to one of the engineers instead of the department head, and the new supervisor had never been one before. He watched over me like a hawk, constantly questioning everything I did. I was no longer allowed to work from home or on weekends because he couldn't watch over me.

He even went so far as to accuse me of lying about my time, saying he personally observed that I was not at work when I said I was. He wasn't even at work that day, never received an apology either.

Then they decided to restructure the intern program and let all the interns go, I was pulled into a room by the supervisor and given a whole week's notice because he was on vacation the week before...the whole time he was laughing!!! I think he was because it was uncomfortable for him, and not meant towards me but still, very unprofessional.

I have been working at Brady full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Very good benefits
    Flexible scheduling
    Promotes from within
Company has been around for 100+ years.
Many people in the company do care about their job and their customers.
They are actively working to improve one the Cons I mention below (slow to embrace new technology)

    Cons

Sales Reps are treated like rock stars, and are a given a free pass on everything as long as they are moving units.

A lot of back stabbing and people who are paranoid about losing face or being fired.

People who have been with the company for 20+ years and demand things be done a certain way without providing any good reason for doing so and without any openness to discuss change.

They are a multi-billion dollar company that cannot afford to purchase basic office supplies and equipment. Was frequently told to bring things like pens, paper, kleenex, from home.

Very slow to adapt to new technology, many of their products have not been revamped since the 90s and it is often times embarassing to have to talk to customers about why our products still use USB-to-Serial adapters and run Windows CE

    Poor training.

    Advice to Management

Please continue to invest in new technology to revitalize the company.

Please do whatever you can to make the atmosphere feel less cut throat and more like a work family.

Please listen more attentively to what your new hires have to say about the company. Brady could easily be so much more than it is, but it is in drastic need of fresh sets of eyes and new ideas to get them out of outdated practices.

I worked at Brady full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

At Brady employees are the reason that you work there. Many hard working people that are great to work with.

    Cons

The company has started to decline over the last 5 years. The pay is not as great and the benefits, which were great at once, are declining. I have concerns on the direction of the company and many managers need to be replaced or get better skills.

    Advice to Management

Review the company the way it your to be and return some of the things that made it great to work for Brady. Treat those who abuse situations on a personal level and do not make blanket changes for everyone.

I have been working at Brady full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The rest of the staff are all funny and fun people to work with.

    Cons

There is one guy that is the office grinch, which is surprising since he is a project manager of sorts and for someone who has to talk to lots of different groups of people and teams everyday has the worst people skills. By far not an office favorite, everyone seems to have the same opinion. The work culture and score would've been much higher, but since no one really reports directly to him that is a plus as I would've quit by now.

    Pros

Great people, lots of talent, global footprint.

    Cons

Everything is a mile wide and an inch deep. Company needs to decide where it wants to play and win and where it will stop wasting effort.

    Advice to Management
