    Pros

The level of energy at this company is infectious. The ADR team is always leading the charge with their prospecting and contests. The sales team is ringing the bell with new deals, the product team releases something new every 6 weeks or so. The marketing team is always trying new ways to reach customers and the support teams always put the customer first. Cohesive group of people, very approachable leadership team that makes it fun to go to work every day.

    Cons

Sense of urgency across the company could be higher.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing and keeping everyone accountable.

    Pros

Great people/fun environment, results driven, size of company, employees can make an impact, CEO and executive team are very personable and approachable. Stability of an 18 year old financially healthy company, solid customer base, yet fast pace startup feel, innovation and product development

    Cons

Commute/traffic, office is located in Waltham

I have been working at Brainshark full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

vacation and sick time plus 2 floating holidays and a paid volunteer day!

    Cons

Challenge: They keep switching direction every quarter, which prompts uncertainty.

Leadership: CMO left, CEO is hopeless, CCO is condescending, VP of Product left and CTO can’t focus. Brainshark is dismantling

Product: Their product direction is unrealistic. Their core product needs LOTS of work. Their current focus is on Coaching which is not so good since the core product needs work. Companies are leaving Brainshark left and right. They've switched directions too many times. They keep trying to hit the jackpot.

Their focus are NOT on employees, but instead, the fact that Brainshark was featured on Channel 5 (the cutting Edge segment) Guess what? I wish the product would work the way it was presented. The product is a disaster.

Stressful environment with no career path.

I have been working at Brainshark full-time

    Pros

They have a coffee and sparkling water machine in the kitchen. That's all I can think about this place when it comes to pros

    Cons

They are lost! No direction. No consistency. Bad culture. High School environment. No career path. They've been a 50M company for years. No growth. Far from being "the best place to work". They have SO MANY other things to fix first. Their priorities are screwed up (including product). They keep demoting people, firing (more than hiring). Just a bad environment. Morale is low.

If you're looking at this review, do yourself a favor and don't waste your time at Brainshark.

    Advice to Management

    wake up!

    Pros

Lots of company events that are fun.
Cool products that apply to lots of things.
Benefits are somewhat decent relative to other places.

    Cons

There's a passive aggressive management style creating a low trust environment where people will not really be honest with management.

I have been working at Brainshark full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I am sitting at the lunch table the other at the President #GregFlynn pulls up a chair and sits with me and a couple of colleagues. Sometimes I read posts about how this executive team is out of touch and not considering or acting on the advice of employees. These comments clearly come from people that were not able to make it and could not accept responsibility for their lack of success. CHANGE happens. Learn to deal with it and make the most out of it.

At lunch we talked about product updates, what customers were asking for and saying, strategy moving forward and we talked about our families and the summer. #GregFlynn is a leader that cares. I have had multiple conversations with executives @Brainshark AND they often act on what they hear.
Oh and the technology and where it is headed is fantastic.

    Cons

Do not listen to the haters or those that did not produce.

I worked at Brainshark full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great software solution, fun to use & work with. Customers are awesome. Coworkers are a fun bunch, very social & active. Lots of workplace perks. True work/life balance here.

    Cons

Middle management lacks experience and upper management would re-brand and/or change corporate goals so frequently that sales teams never had enough time to build their pipelines, goals were missed and massive layoffs happened several times which put the entire company on edge. There was general confusion across departments because of the unrelenting changes and continuous implementation of new processes. There were a lot of issues between supervisors and their direct reports. Way too much gossip at this workplace. Several employees hooking up with each other romantically. One of the VP's (who has a different title now) is/was sleeping with a sales rep. Everyone knew but nothing was done about it.
Unprofessional from my viewpoint but both people are still employed by the company (according to their LinkedIn profiles).

    Advice to Management

Hire managers with management experience (or send existing managers off for training) and strictly enforce HR policies continuously (not when it is convenient or aligns with office politics).

Stop re-inventing the wheel every 6 months. Give employees more time to get on board with shifting corporate goals and consider the detrimental effects that going through large hiring/firing cycles has on your core/loyal employees.
