I worked at Brandywine Global Investment Management as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work experience, friendly environment, and ability to meet/interact with most people at the firm. Also provided programs for interns to be welcomed and introduced to upper management

    Cons

Pretty small for investment firm standards. Also sometimes when business decisions were to be made, not a lot your immediate team manager can do to influence changes.

    Advice to Management

More consideration of employees concerns when making decisions like budget cut backs. More input can only be helpful when making decisions.

I worked at Brandywine Global Investment Management as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The management teams are more than willing to talk to you about anything and everything. Being an intern sometimes means that you are ignored. At BGIM I was not ignored. As long as there wasnt anything in the way of talking (i.e. its the end of the day) the staff are willing to answer questions and have conversations.

    Cons

Professional Communication was sometimes difficult. In order to answer a simple question I would have to schedule a "sit-down" with someone to review their knowledge. A lot of people have specific knowledge that is not documented. The only way to get this knowledge for yourself is talking to someone. This means taking time out of both yours and their day.

    Advice to Management

Did not work long enough to give relevant advice.

I worked at Brandywine Global Investment Management full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Quality of fellow team members is excellent in some areas. Once you are "in" the click you are safe.

    Cons

No budget for IT and cost over-runs impact employee bonus pool rather than only the employee that blew up the project by accusing others of "not using common sense"...

    Advice to Management

Replace your CIO and find someone that has come up through the ranks that truly understand software development and team building versus a friend of a friend who breaks down morale.

    Cons

The company is not very big and is hard to get into. As a buy side, they seldom hire fresh graduates.

I have been working at Brandywine Global Investment Management as an intern

    Pros

This is a great asset management company, people here are so friendly and so willing to teach. I spent a great time as a summer intern here.

    Cons

The company is not that big and they only hire experienced people. People might find lifestyle too relaxed since its pace is really slow.

  10. "Interesting culture in a rapidly growing company"

    Pros

Benefit programs are very good. Help to offset somewhat weak base comps. Work life balance can be excellent depending on where in the organization you are working

    Cons

Very flat management structure. People tend to be pigeon-holed upon hire with limited advancement opportunities. (Again, can vary based on where in the org. you land.) Lots of recent hires from outside the company into more senior positions rather than developing and advancing existing talent.

    Advice to Management

Need to be more inclusive; i.e., include impacted staff and managers in strategic planning rather than imposing decisions made without input from experienced staff. Judging by growth of business, very effective at producing performance that leads to growth, but very little metric info is shared with staff on how wins are achieved.
