I have been working at BrassCraft full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great brand with long standing reputation of supporting the customer. Current co-workers good group to work with but good ones seem to be leaving.

    Cons

Sr. Managment is short term focused. There is no value placed in the people of the company. There is lip service to long term strategy but all actions indicate short term planning with focus on promoting managements self interest and egos. There is lip service about empowerment but in reality all decisions are made at the top with only a facade of listening to those with direct knowledge or who are impacted by the decisions. Not a positive place to work. Managment by fear to create compliance. Major shift in recent times.

    Advice to Management

If you already have made the decision on the direction don't ask for input. This weakens what credibility you have. Treat your people with respect and trust. The majority of us come to work every day trying to make a difference.

I worked at BrassCraft full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

For the most part, good people. Valuable products for the home repair/building industry.

    Cons

Constant management in-fighting. No autonomy for making purchasing decisions. Coolant fumes in the machine shop created a greasy, nasty floor and stairs. Constantly had to be sure not to slip and fall. Poorly organized.

    Advice to Management

    Quell the in-fighting.

    Pros

Great small company feel, but benefits of larger company. Great benefits package. Great career challenges.

    Cons

A lot of change, but can see that it will make us a better company in the long run. Too HQ (Novi) centric.

    Advice to Management

Keep communicating thru the change and keep celebrating the victories. You've done it so far, but keep it up.

I have been working at BrassCraft full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people at BrassCraft are wonderful. Everyone works as a team player. They have Employee Activity Events on a regular basis and strong community involvement.

    Cons

There is no work life balance and unfortunately we lost a lot of key employees with tribal knowledge as a result of this. Communication from top management is almost non-existent. Pay increases are way below average. Many employees throughout the company are dissatisfied with their job.

    Advice to Management

Put employees first and communicate to them.

The people are wonderful. The company is very flexible with work/life balance and cares about their employees. Monthly employee events to let the employees know they are appreciated.

    Cons

Recent turnover can make training difficult but with good communication and team work that can change. We're on the right track.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

It isn't often that you find a mid-size company that has a family feel, and provides such an opportunity for growth and development. There is a focus on employee engagement ... and employees are happier than many places I have worked before.

    Cons

The company is in a growth mode, which can sometimes be confusing for employees.

    Advice to Management

Continue to communicate - this is a strength to leverage. Make sure execs and managers are on the same page, and everyone is rowing in the same direction.
