Thank you for sharing your thoughts on being a Collections Specialist!! We challenge our associates to be their best in every way! This is a community you can take pride in and that will inspire you. We respect your voice and recognize your contributions! This isn't our first rodeo with tracking metrics for success -- we know what numbers are needed and we're able to teach our Collections team to work toward those metrics so they can be successful. Thanks for all you do!!

Pros
They send you everything you need, Very nice in the beginning, Pay was okay, My direct leaders were very kind and understanding, Offer competitive benefits
Cons
The ranking system is designed poorly, it’s nearly impossible to climb to hit where they want you to. When you inevitably don’t make those goals they put you on a corrective action and threaten to fire you. It takes a huge toll on mental health because you don’t know if you’ll have a job on the first of the month. Any pto or psl days you take count against you in the ranking so you have to worry about pushing payments out to that day to hope you don’t drop significantly. They tell us to take those days we “earned” but if you take them it counts against you. It’s a lose lose situation. There is a gap in communication between leadership, you can ask three leaders questions and get different answers. It makes doing your job confusing because it seems like everyone is guessing on what the answer is, and if you do something wrong based on listening to a leader you will be talked to about it.

Thanks for sharing that you had a positive onboarding experience with equipment, benefits, and compensation. It's wonderful to hear that you found your leadership to be supportive partners as you learned the ropes. We appreciate your feedback on our performance evaluation system and will share your valuable feedback with leadership. We certainly value our associates and don't want to lose them to burnout as work-life harmony is a core component of our culture.

We appreciate you stopping by to share your previous experience. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed working for your supervisors and liked the Paid Time Off options we provide. We agree that more training is always needed, which is why we provide continuing education beyond your initial classes. Pros
I worked as a Collections Specialist for Bread Financial for almost three years. In that time I worked with a group of wonderful people and enjoyed the experience very much. Any time I had a complaint I went to management and it was resolved quickly. I miss that about working there.
Cons
Every time I had a complaint it got resolved so I don’t have anything to add to this section now that I’m no longer there.

Pros
For me, all that really matters is that I feel valued and appreciated in my role and I very much feel that way here at Bread Financial.
Cons
My biggest gripe is the company’s sponsored healthcare, it’s just not the most affordable.
Bread Financial Response5mo
Thanks for sharing that you FEEL valued. That makes a huge difference to many associates -- you are not just a number. We appreciate your feedback on the cost of healthcare coverage. We absorb about 80% of the cost of the health plans and only charge associates 20% of the cost. It sure is pricey for everyone.

Pros
Good benefits and alright pay
Cons
After training ends and you get tenured you stopped receiving help. No regular coaching. All the managers seem like they don’t care about you anymore. And they throw thing on you last minute. Oh and they made so much money last year but didn’t give many people raises not even some who stuck it out through the update. Like seriously if they did so great you would think they would at least value those who helped make that happen and stuck through the update. Even fast food gives annual raises

We are sorry to hear you did not have a positive experience after you went through the training program and became a fully functional collections representative. We know this work is not easy and that everyone needs some support themselves while they support our customers. Please consider reaching out to your supervisor or a peer to connect and discuss your concerns / gain perspective. Your concerns are valid and want to be able to assist you. You can also reach out to Spring Health for more intense resources or check out our Living Well on-demand resources on our Inview page.
