I worked at BreitBurn (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall great atmosphere, people to work for and with. Really nice upside in training and development of its employees. Great benefits and nice perks. One of the best groups of people I have worked for and with. ,

    Cons

Not really a 'Con' but it would have been nice if leadership could have given employees that were laid off either a chance at sticking around at reduced salary or have the option of going to another department. Since hiring a CIO, the morale of the IT dept. went from confident and eager to worried and anxious about their longevity with the direction with company. Understand cutbacks are part of the business so... still sucks.

    Advice to Management

Overall great job really, just that it would have been nice to perhaps make a plan in order to keep some key figures in the IT department around to at least some capacity to still help the business that still needed to be maintained even after many layoffs. Outsourcing money could have went to employees that would have care much more for the people and the parts than any 3rd party IMO..

I worked at BreitBurn full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Compensation is a little above average. However the bonus is really good. At least it was back in 2011. Good benefits.

    Cons

Where do I start? Manager's are very shady. If you step on there feet in any way, they will fire you. The managers treat their employees like second class citizens. Stay far away.

    Advice to Management

    Fire yourselves

    Pros

Great commute is the only positive thing

    Cons

Management is unprofessional, insensitive, disrespectful and just not up there with the times. Lies, lies, lies. You work your tail off at this place just to get nothing in the end. Benefits are good, but no training, they don't invest in their employees as they state they will and there is a lot of favoritism. If you are white, you are right.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together people! Good luck with all the oil prices dropping. I am totally against FRACKING. There is a drought in CALIFORNIA and I hope they BAN it altogether.

I worked at BreitBurn full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pays well, can opt for every other Friday off, decent work/life balance, dividends (when they had them),

    Cons

Management's inability to properly do their job has created a nasty culture of backstabbing and 'throwing people under the bus" that is rampant throughout the whole company. The lack of communication from management all the way down creates a lot of anxiety and confusion for employees. If you are not in good favor with someone, it is not uncommon for managers and employees alike to get blind-sided with passive-aggressive demotions without any word from anyone, you essentially get parked......and they will continue mismanaging talent and bleeding money as a result. Aside from all of this, there is not really any process, so it's disorganized...and since people don't communicate, there is overlapping work. Good luck if you get a job there, you will need it.

    Advice to Management

Fire yourselves and let this company start all over again,

    Cons

old school thought process, lots of growing pains

    Advice to Management

perhaps a review of management by employees, maybe more standard ways of doing things - can sometimes be a high school popularity contest
