I have been working at Bridgepoint Education full-time

    Pros

Amazing mission - helping people gain access to innovative higher education.

    Cons

Constant fear of termination. No matter how well you are doing, if the company is in a down-swing (like they currently are) they will dig until they find enough people to get rid of.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the employees that love their jobs.

    Pros

    Good co-workers
    Competitive benefits
    Good working environment

    Cons

Sometimes words and actions don't match-up
Not really a place for career advancement for employees in the 40-50+ age range
    Interdepartmental communication is still challenging

    Advice to Management

    Lead by example
All age ranges are relevant for career advancement consideration and many employees have applicable experience and skills that can contribute to the company's goals, objectives and vision

I have been working at Bridgepoint Education full-time

    Pros

Lots of fun, great environment to work in, flexible hours and stuff, able to do what you want

    Cons

Very strict on stats, sometimes you want to pound your head into the wall because not many people you call want to actually go to school

    Advice to Management

Maybe set realistic goals instead of basing success on how much money you make? You can't force people to go to school online, and those you have to force will fail

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Bridgepoint Education full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Initially, this company gave employees great incentives for their 5 year tenure, but these are no longer offered. Not sure there are any pros anymore...

    Cons

Everything comes from the top down and here seems to be very little collaboration within this company. With consistent layoffs throughout the year, employees are often left feeling very unsure and often anxious about whether or not they will still have a job the next day.

    Advice to Management

Stop having money as the main focus.

I worked at Bridgepoint Education as a contractor

    Pros

Staff is mostly young and easy to get along with. I was able to make a lot of friends working here. Lots of paid holidays.

    Cons

Top management is out of touch with what their departments needs are. There doesn't seem to be a clear direction for the company. The recruiting department is clueless and unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

Give employees more autonomy. Less micromanaging would go a long way. Bringing on new talent with a focus on innovation would be important.
