    Pros

You do get to change peoples lives for the better by providing information and assistance to degrees online for people who might not have the time or opportunity to pursue higher education. It's a pretty easy job calling people and speaking to them and just inspiring people to reach their goals.

    Cons

The Student Inquiry department managers and directors hinder the enrollment advisers ability to really make a difference in everyone that calls in lives because the employees there have no responsibility for the calls they transfer and those employees are only doing what they are told. For example the SI department transfers a call to an adviser without asking them what they would like to go to school for, and if they happen to do so, they don't transfer them to the right people because they aren't trained for long enough or well enough. "What would you like to do? I'd like to go to school for art and design. OK well we have a college of Liberal Arts (Nothing artistic in that college at all and no programs even remotely close for what the advisers can help them with) let me transfer" If this department was better trained, better managed, better directed and did just a little bit more, Ashford University would be by far the best online degree program out there, hands down, and the enrollment advisers would love, or at least like their jobs there even more. There's a lot of common sense-solved problems that aren't solved because the management isn't proactive about making people's jobs easier or more streamlined so they can use all that wasted energy solving the SI departments problems or getting people who can't get a degree at Ashford toward more prospective student interaction or student retention.

    Advice to Management

Read the Cons-If the SIC department were better at what they were originally supposed to do, the whole company would be light-years better than where they are now from an employee happiness, employee job performance and student experience standpoint.

    Pros

The biggest pros of the job were the autonomy and pay.

    Cons

At the time, for those who worked hard and met goals, there were not too many cons. I've heard a lot has changed in the past couple years.

I worked at Bridgepoint Education full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Bridgepoint was an innovator in education and education technology when I was there. They also put the resources necessary behind projects to ensure they were successful. Additionally the people I worked with were great. Finally they are a San Diego based company; born and raised locally. The corporate office is right off the 15 in Poway.

    Cons

Some people in positions of power will go out of their way to defend the status quo. Some of the same people think they know much more about your area of expertise than you do even though they have little to no experience in the area. While not unique to Bridgepoint, it happened more frequently than other companies.

    Advice to Management

From an outside looking in, it seems like you've backed away from innovation. Empower people with expertise to make decisions.

I worked at Bridgepoint Education full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Good benefits ( PTO, health, Sick days)
-Great training (two weeks, very thorough)
    -Modern office building centrally located

    Cons

-controversial product (a lot of students only enroll to get federal student loan stipend money)
-lost accreditation (may have regained since I last worked there)

    Advice to Management

A lot of the management really had no clue how to manage a team. They were just standout in sales or buddy buddy with upper management.
