I worked at Bridgeport Hospital full-time

    Pros

    Mixed patient population-opportunity to learn

    Cons

Toxic work environment. Racist coworkers. Racist/bias managers. Managers had personal relationships w/ certain nurses and hence were biased in situations. Management micromanages staff. Terribly unsafe nurse to patient ratios. Unsafe/impossible expectations. Night shift staff unrecognized/not valued. Never recognized/included. Very toxic work environment. Very poor morale.

I have been working at Bridgeport Hospital full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

By far the easiest job Ive had as an RN in 20 yrs due to outstanding RN to pt ratio. Never miss a break.

    Cons

Safety is getting scary relative to # of new grads hired esp in the ED. More concerning is the number of new nurses in their early 20s, placed in Charge positions with a good # of excellent and experienced RNs being looked over. Or, perhaps the middle aged nurses have earned some sit back and throw it to the wolves time.

    Cons

High patient ratios/understaffing, low pay. Frequently felt overworked/overstressed and underpaid. Hated being rushed to clock out after a very busy shift with a heavy assignment

I have been working at Bridgeport Hospital full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Culture of accountability and teamwork. Staff is empowered to design, own, and implement evidence based practice.

    Cons

Many improvements to staffing and creative utilization of resources have seriously improved working conditions. Nights/Weekends continue to be staffed lighter (Nursing, Techs, Secretary) and this is an ongoing opportunity for improvement.
