I have been working at Bridgeport Hospital part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Bridgeport Hospital definitely provides a great diversity of patient care experiences. The staff members are all welcoming and team work is on everyone's mind. The managers and upper management always take nursing opinions into considerations.

    Cons

The nurse to patient ratios are a bit much at times, but the hospital always tries to work to improve upon it.

I worked at Bridgeport Hospital full-time

    Pros

    Mixed patient population-opportunity to learn

    Cons

Toxic work environment. Racist coworkers. Racist/bias managers. Managers had personal relationships w/ certain nurses and hence were biased in situations. Management micromanages staff. Terribly unsafe nurse to patient ratios. Unsafe/impossible expectations. Night shift staff unrecognized/not valued. Never recognized/included. Very toxic work environment. Very poor morale.

I worked at Bridgeport Hospital full-time

    Pros

Benefits in the Yale New Haven Health System are great. OT availability with additional incentive .

    Cons

High patient ratios/understaffing, low pay. Frequently felt overworked/overstressed and underpaid. Hated being rushed to clock out after a very busy shift with a heavy assignment

I have been working at Bridgeport Hospital

    Pros

People generally are very friendly; MDs and clinical staff accessible, pleasant, and easy to communicate with; good teamwork, staff overall is hardworking.

    Cons

7:1 nurse-patient ratio for RNs is typical; limited opportunity for RNs to switch into other areas of interest (other than ED, ICU, float pool), ongoing staffing shortages; older facility / not as modern as other local hospitals, dress code not enforced.
