Open Office, Great people, flex hours, great owners. Pat O'Donnell and Keith Okano are the best! I really liked working with Bridgeway Software.

    Cons

The salary was a little lower than market value for me, but the great work environment made things worth it.

    Pros

Employees first, customers second, and shareholders third.
Long-term and personal relationships with all constituents, inside and out.
    Focus on customer outcome.
Really a once in a lifetime group of people to work with.

    Cons

    Quirky. All private companies are.

    Advice to Management

    Thank you.

I worked at Bridgeway Software full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Strong "employee first" culture with high client engagement. Owners truly cared about employees . Great place to work. Would do it all over again.

    Cons

None to speak of. Strong executive team held team members accountable for hitting financial targets and corporate goals. Not always easy but fair.

    Advice to Management

Enjoyed working with the rest of the executive team. Each were strong in their own way and contributed well toward company's recent acquisition.

    Pros

This was a very employee oriented company. They offered outstanding benefits and fairly competitive pay. Executive management cultivated a very funny and rewarding atmosphere.

    Cons

The biggest downside is that the company was recently acquired by a competitor which is rumored to have a very different culture - more focus on dollars and the bottom-line, less on employee satisfaction. A significant number of employees were let go. Remains to be seen how this all shakes out.

    Advice to Management

Star ratings are based on Bridgeway Software and not new management.

    Pros

    - They have a chef but the chef has to prepare meals based on approved items from management
    - Flexible schedule
    - Most of the people are nice and easy to work with
    - CEO has a huge heart and cares about people.

    Cons

    - Family owned and operated. More than half of the executive team is related to the CEO.
    - Preferential treatment for certain employees.
    - People are promoted to manager positions without experience or knowledge. Not sure if this is based on loyalty or what but you end up with people running things with no real clue what they're doing.
    - Salaries are low, bonuses are few and far between.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your people. Get some real talent on your management team. Stop promoting family members or employees that have been there 10+ years.

I worked at Bridgeway Software full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This company pretty much owns its market segment—software for legal departments. It's on great footing financially. You can talk to anyone, including the CEO and president almost every day—and they know you by name.

They DO NOT have a habit of frequent and interminable meetings. I was in meetings that lasted five minutes—if that was as long as it took to settle a question.

Work ends at about 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The few times I worked later, to finish something on schedule, I was maybe the second or third person left in the office. No one jerks your chain on weekends or holidays.

The office on 610 in Bellaire is comfortable and well equipped. Every employee has a laptop that is no more than a couple of years old. It's an open-office arrangement, but quiet

They have free lunch served in the office Monday through Thursday.

They have covered parking (though the birds dirty your car).

On the whole it's a great place to work, if you are in the right job and get along with your manager.

    Cons

Because it is a relatively small company, you might be the only person with your job function, or one of two. You might have to take over duties for others. It's not like a huge corporation where you can hide in the crowd.

More to the point, if you aren't satisfied with your position or don't get along with your manager, there may be no room for a lateral transfer.

The customer support department is well staffed and seems to have some of the happiest people with the longest tenure.

    Advice to Management

I can't complain. I never before had lunch with the CEO or president without it being some kind of contrived event.

I have been working at Bridgeway Software full-time

    Pros

    Pros:

Employee focused culture - Management goes above and beyond to see employees succeed and to make sure they are taken care of.

Work-life balance - Management and all employees recognize that there needs to be a sense of work-life balance and make sure to expect each other's time.

Training - Management is always looking for ways to invest and better train their employees.

Other - Catered lunch, medical and dental benefits, health programs

    Cons

At times there is slow interdepartmental communication. But other than that, can't think of anything that would stop me from recommending the company.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing exactly what you are doing! It is a testament that you are doing something right when most employees have been with the company, 5, 8, 10+ years!
