I have been working at Briggs & Stratton full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A good mix of both long-timers and recruitment of new talent outside of the organization. The majority of employees are pleasant to work with and there is generally cooperation between departments.

The company has been in business for over a century, and they have a solid place in the market. They are always looking to grow, expand into other markets, and develop new technologies.

    Cons

As I'm sure it is with many other companies, there always feels like there is a push to do more with less. Often, the employees have the ability to do a job right, but need to cut corners to make sure a project is complete due to mounting responsibilities.

    Advice to Management

For the most part, my direct management has done the best they can given their situation. They can be put in a difficult position, being between directors/vice presidents and the people they manage.

One piece of advice I would give to management is to be as honest and genuine with those you manage as possible. Employees may not always like what they hear, but often they will understand. At the very least, they will have the appropriate information to make the best decisions for both themselves and the company.

I have been working at Briggs & Stratton part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

One of the biggest company, and I have a good experience to work in this company.

    Cons

Some people is very unprofessional to work with especially the people with higher position,

    Advice to Management

I think much better you know the feeling of you're worker especially coming from the agency, because sometimes the supervisors treat them like an idiot.

I have been working at Briggs & Stratton full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, very family oriented company with support for work life balance. Generally good team environment. Good opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Can be somewhat rigid, finance driven & risk adverse. However seems to be evolving in that area to seek out growth opportunities. Quite uptight re social interaction. Employees are clock in/out type and seem to keep to themselves / don/t open up. No good events / environments to facilitate improvement in this area.

    Advice to Management

Less divisive mentality of departments.. more cross sharing / working / etc. More events for cross divisional employees to interact on a social level. More fun.

I have been working at Briggs & Stratton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They pay pretty well. Laid back environment. Management is very good. The people I work with are nice. Rarely work weekends which is nice in summer.

    Cons

No vacation for 6 years so don't plan on taking a trip unless its for 2 days. They don't tell you that when you get hired. The job gets very boring and my days are long. Very hot in summer.
