I have been working at Briggs & Veselka (More than a year)

    Pros

The firm does a great job in providing opportunities to learn and advance with the firm. They also do a great job at maintaining a great work environment. The firm is very transparent. John is awesome and so are some other partners.

    Cons

Many different personalities and preferences control audit work. Diversity is good normally, but not when learning to do a job.

    I worked at Briggs & Veselka full-time

    Pros

somewhat of a balance during busy season, generous PTO

    Cons

Everyone at the firm above the senior level started their career elsewhere. B&V will pay other people a lot more money than you for the same position if they are trying to get them from somewhere else. Very gender-discriminatory when it comes to working from home. Bonuses and promotions are based on butt-kissing and "playing the game", not on work.

    Advice to Management

what's the point, they won't listen

It is unfortunate to hear that a former employee did not have an overall positive experience at the firm. It is unusual to hear this feedback outside of the normal avenues we have set up for... More

    I worked at Briggs & Veselka full-time

    Pros

Very laid-back culture with friendly people to work with. Great office environment located near River Oaks including covered parking. The firm is very focused on developing talent from within and my mentor was very helpful.

    Cons

Not much to say here. I really enjoyed the work-life balance and friendly work environment.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing everything you are currently doing and more. I really enjoyed the marketing events for the firm and all the other company events.

    Pros

Great work/life balance--I was able to attend nearly all of my childrens' activities
Very friendly management--The leadership is very personable and friendly sometimes having social gatherings at their homes.
Very strong network--It seems like the partners knew everyone in town.

    Cons

Can't always trust what leadership says--Management didn't seem to always follow through on promises.
Salaries are low-Relative to the industry, salaries were low, and their pay for performance plan did not fairly compensate for intangibles.
