I worked at Brigham Young University (BYU) part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Even in part-time work, BYU entities really care about their employees. I was an RA and absolutely loved it.

    Cons

Once I was teachable, there weren't really any. If you're an RA, just be prepared to work really hard during finals week. In addition to being necessary, it helped me not stress school too much, which I see as a net benefit.

    Advice to Management

Hire supervisors that will trust your employees; it's the best way to get them to mature. My supervisor trusted us deeply, and I still think back on the lessons I learned from him. Our coworking group wasn't so fortunate; their supervisor always expected them to act like children and chided them with passive-aggressive remarks. I was not envious in the least.

I have been working at Brigham Young University (BYU) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

BYU has a great environment where most of the time people really care about your success and happiness. They provide all full time employee with a great benefits package. They take the needs of the students very seriously. Students' comments about the quality of their experience at BYU is taken very seriously.

    Cons

Sometimes because student opinions about their experience in a class are taken so seriously a complaining student often get more results from complaining that from hard work and following the expectations of the faculty. As with any large organization it is often difficult to find the person that you need to help you solve a problem.

    Advice to Management

It is a better environment than other universities that I have worked at but it is sometime difficult to get people to really listen to a problems and get their support in solving it.
