I worked at Bright Horizons Family Solutions full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits, worked with some great people, good opportunities to learn

    Cons

Bright Horizons used to be all about people - employees, children, families - but in recent years it changed and became all about the bottom line and the values gone downhill. Teachers are overworked and under appreciated, leadership is not heard and unable to make change, and honest practices have been completely dismissed. Now it looks great on paper but not in practice.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, practice the heart principles you expect of your staff

I worked at Bright Horizons Family Solutions full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great coworkers, some hard working teachers and great curriculum based programs. There is room for growth. Good benefits

    Cons

A lot of deadlines with no time to complete work outside of classroom due to being short-staffed because of high turn over. Change in management and lack of communication causing people to LITERALLY walk out on day one or after a week. People in leadership positions abusing their power and talking down to those below them. My location catered to EXXONMOBIL families and teachers including myself were treated as... nannies by parents. Not taken seriously at all. I have never seen parents so uninvolved in their children’s lives. I worked here for about 7 months and although i loved working with children and have worked with children for several years this job showed me I need to take a break from this field or not come back to it all together.

    Advice to Management

Learn to appreciate the hard working teachers you have!! Pay attention to the employees that have put in years with the company and nothing to show for it. Talk to your center directors to ensure they are doing everything they can to create a positive work environment with no favoritism. Most gossipers are the people you appoint to be in leadership. Find out why there is high turnover in some centers. Could be lack... of management
