I have been working at BrightTALK full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Free snacks in the kitchen.

    Cons

Management is not interested in employee feedback (or only pretends to listen). Toxic culture, political games and infighting - no wonder projects can't get done. Disconnect between US-UK offices and teams, some of it due to legacy mindset and old employees unwilling to change with the times. The company has been around for ages, but it's still relying on tasks being done manually across too many teams. KPIs change...

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and show them that the company's values mean something. Take better care of your users. Set limits as to how many times a user/lead can be sold within a certain timeframe. Invest in some tech. Automate tedious manual tasks. It's 2019!

I have been working at BrightTALK full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I’ve worked at a handful of firms and experienced their unique cultures. The most infamous ones had a strong culture that quickly and easily won people over, but lacked depth and expected conformity as the only way forward. At BrightTALK, my experience has been unlike any other job. I feel I have a voice - I can share constructive feedback and celebrate in the wins; I can ask for help when I need it and attain support;...

    Advice to Management

Continue to prioritize time we can spend together. Those opportunities are cherished and go such a long way to elevate our culture and our ability to better collaborate, ultimately improving how we work and what we achieve!

I have been working at BrightTALK full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I love BrightTALK. The mission and the values are truly the foundation of this place. The culture of caring for people and advancing their careers paths comes from the leadership team and it is felt and shared by almost everyone. Everyone is welcome, employees get a voice and are being celebrated for their success. Lots of good initiatives. Top management listens to you. Hard work is recognized and pays off. The tech...

I worked at BrightTALK full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Great individuals in middle management but slowly being poisoned from the top. - Great place to figure out what to do next and work a 8-5 job sitting under fluorescent lights.

    Cons

I can’t begin to describe how sad of a workplace environment this is. All I can say is don’t take an opportunity here. It’s stagnant and an extremely depressing place to work. There are too many good opportunities in SF, don’t let them fool you. There are many that hsbe worked here for 4-5+ years but don’t be fooled they’re waiting for their promotion they should have received years ago.

    Advice to Management

It’s too far gone. No advice because they don’t take ANY.

I have been working at BrightTALK full-time

    Pros

I've noticed BrightTALK's focus on giving more employees a chance to shine. It's cool to hear from so many voices in our monthly company meetings, as opposed to from just the senior leadership. I also admire that we're encouraged to get to know coworkers in different departments. We have something called Buddy Brew where they give us coffee gift cards and pair us up with different coworkers monthly. Then they actually...

Limited swag so you can't represent the company too much outside of the office even if you wanted to. Water bottles were really cool, though!

    Advice to Management

It's very refreshing to hear about projects and accomplishments from team members. Keep promoting that as their voices are in some cases even more powerful and trustworthy.

I have been working at BrightTALK full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I just completed health benefits enrollment for 2017. Huge props to Paul Heald (CEO) and team for developing the best benefits I've seen since I joined over a decade ago. It's great to see BrightTALK doubling down on its people during times when most others are scaling back. Guess it helps that we're breaking every growth number on record :-)

    Cons

Opportunity to create deeper cross-departmental alignment and consistency in the communication and application of core values within each team.

I worked at BrightTALK full-time for more than a year

    Pros

A few folks are good. I mean they are nice and most of them are really junior. Some really awful egoistic employees were let go, phew!

    Cons

Tired Management - They are a tech company trying to become a media company, at a time when all media companies are struggling. Disconnect between UK and the US - It seems like that the team in UK is out doing its own thing without any discussion between the two teams. Talk people!! Business model is broken - So this is the fun part. If you sign up for their platform and drive people to your own webinars on their platform,...

I worked at BrightTALK full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

BrightTALK is a great, innovative company with passionate coworkers. There is an amazing core of dedicated professionals working to building the next great B2B audience platform. Having worked at some of the internet giants, I can honestly say the team at BrightTALK can stack up anywhere. The product they are building is truly innovative and will propel the company forward for years to come.

    Cons

Growth stage companies can be hard. There's not always a linear path from A to B. It will test your mettle, but you'll be better for it. I think some of the negative reviews come from people who are unrealistic about how challenging building a business can be. Its tough work, but it's ultimately worth it.

    Advice to Management

Focus on your core assets; the audience platform will take you places. Cut your losses on bets that aren't paying off to double down on those that are.

    Pros

Amazing culture. Tech environments can tend to have ego-driven employees, however BrightTALK has done a great job of putting people together who work hard and get along with each other. HR also does a fantastic job of keeping everyone happy. I cannot emphasize enough how amazing the people are here. Cons

Work life balance is great, however at times there can be very high amount of stress within each department during crunch time. Compensation is competitive, however benefits could be a tad better compared to other companies. BrightTALK has already started working on improving some perks (i.e. sick day flexibility, more holidays, etc.)

    Advice to Management

Continue rewarding your employees for their hard work. Everyone loves what they do, but as mentioned it can get a bit stressful for each department depending on deadlines and what time of the month it is.

I have been working at BrightTALK full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Passionate people, amazing users, innovative customers. Useful technology that truly helps people get smarter. Great vision, execution is a different story.

    Cons

Case study in founder's syndrome gone wrong. Little investment or interest in growing internal talent. Centralized decision making causes teams to feel un-empowered. Big company problems in a small organization. Centralized

    Advice to Management

Just do one thing, and focus the entire company on it. Help every employee see their revenue impact, and challenge them to find ways to contribute more.
