I worked at Brightside Academy full-time

    Pros

there are no pros to this place

    Cons

I was threatened by parents, corporate and other teachers there. I was threatened because i was white by the parents. corporate didn't care. kids would come in high from their parents smoking, and no one batted an eye

    Advice to Management

Take a look around and actually care about your employees and kids instead of the money

I have been working at Brightside Academy full-time

    Pros

There were alot of pros until the new owners took over. Now the only pros are a few other great co workers

    Cons

don't pay for mileage or daycare anymore. Pay is very low and they expect you to work alot of hours plus do what ever other duties they need you to do whenever they need it; this includes running multiple center, cleaning trash up or cleaning the bathooms if needed

    Advice to Management

I feel for everyone at the company. The new owners suck and do not care about their employees at all. This causes the good employees to leave and be replace with other individuals that are not qualified because you do not pay well or even care about your employees needs.

I worked at Brightside Academy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

None , this place is horrid.

    Cons

Harassment by parents, unqualified staff, rude upper management, insane turnover

    Advice to Management

This is a horrible organization constantly being shut down by local and state agencies due to supervision violations, health code violations, among others. Burn them all to the ground and start over.

I have been working at Brightside Academy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Free childcare for salary employees

    Cons

There is not support from your supervisors. They also overload you with work that one person can not possibly do because they can not keep any employees.
This is due to the lack of support, low pay (on top of that they just took away mileage reimbursement and want you to travel all over the city), and the oversize caseloads regardless of what they tell you when you first start. They also expect you to work more than 5 days a week and do not pay for any overtime if you are a salary employee.

    Advice to Management

Support your employees if you want good employees to stay. Advocate for us and support us instead of overloading us with work. Also stop lying to employees and telling them they will be moving to one position but instead just adding a new position while they have to continue doing the work for their old position as well.

I have been working at Brightside Academy (Less than a year)

    Pros

None! There is nothing positive about this whole operation

    Cons

The staff was rude and not willing to work with us about anything. They told my wife that "nobody likes her" and were not willing to talk to me about anything. when marks were found on my son they blamed us for it. There is no way this day care should be in operation. The whole place was rude and arrogant. And that is how they treated us when my wife worked for them. Imagine how they will act when your just a customer.

    Advice to Management

work with the parents and have some common certify!

I worked at Brightside Academy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A stepping stone and the experience working in a childcare setting.

    Cons

    Poor Management.
    No care for the kids
No support for staff, kids could be as disrespectful as they wanted without consequence.
    Always out of ratio.
    Long hours.
    Pay.
    Turnover Rate.
No room for growth or raises.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff! Don't just hire the first person off the streets, or you'll continue to lose employees. If a child gives a teacher a hard time, do something about it!
