I have been working at Brillient full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Management is involved with the projects. Relationships are good. Company is growing, and staff is growing too. Lots of good people here.

    Cons

No much going on here in terms of technology. Bad ideas get too much attention from the CEO. High turnover. Pressure on sales too high.

    Advice to Management

Got to spread the power across the managers. Staff is too sycophantic and can't really support a growing company without power to influence the way they work. Need to invest more in creating technology.

I worked at Brillient full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Was stable schedule
Paid holidays off per SCA government contract
Job sucked but bills were paid
Good for high school and college students but not anyone hoping for a career

    Cons

Management in Lees Summit doesn't care for employees. Literally the same person Brillient appointed as their project manager told an all hands meeting "folks if you don't like it here there are other jobs in Kansas City" during the transition from STS in the summer of 2015. I left due to lack of advancement opportunities and the fact that morale was terrible in Lees Summit. Just because management puts on a good show for Brillient Sr management when they visit don't assume the contract is well run.
You won't get any raises ever! Seven years and counting. It's not a good job for anyone hoping for a career.
Also it's quota driven, so your largely rewarded for doing the bare minimum. Literally so many employees skip steps or fudge numbers it's crazy. Beware of working here.

    Advice to Management

Look hard at morale. Most employees weren't happy with the previous contractor (STS) and Brillient kept the same upper management. Turnover is high, morale is low. You have good people at the NRC, but your losing them in high numbers and those who haven't left are only staying because they don't have any options.

I worked at Brillient (More than a year)

    Pros

Small size means less hoops to jump through to get things done, and more of a family-type atmosphere - everyone knows everyone (who are nice and fun to work with). Very laid back corporate culture that's flexible with schedules if and when things come up.

    Cons

They don't specialize in anything in particular and aren't very competitive for any new work they go after. They're also painfully cheap - benefits and salaries are bottom-of-the-barrel, and seem to constantly have issues with their payroll and email/internet systems (I'm amazed my paycheck was deposited every time). Management also tends to only listen to consultants who tell them what they WANT to hear, but not actually what they NEED to hear.

    Advice to Management

You need to find smart, savvy and GOOD consultants to grow your company, set some realistic, defined goals and stop chasing after useless contract vehicles that you're not qualified for.

I have been working at Brillient full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company promotes ingenuity and independent thinking. It’s a small business (under 100 employees) with very big dreams. The business is growing rapidly and employees have opportunity to learn and grow with the company.

    Cons

Provides only basic benefits, e.g. medical/dental, PTO and 401K

    Advice to Management

    Provide education benefits
