I have been working at Brinker (More than a year)

    Pros

Hours and tips, friendly atmosphere. Good music and a fast paced environments.

    Cons

The scores from ZIOSK surveys are all that's cared about. Getting a 4 actually hurts your score. Since you have zero control over kitchen, QA, food runner e ct. Seems extremely discriminatory as more than 50 percent of people who full out the surveys are because they are NOT happy. Those that are usually won't take the time. It sucks to have the bathroom be dirty and My survey is all 1. Management's explanations are well all servers have same struggles. Not a conducive way to help keep dedicated loyal hard working employees wanting to bust their butts for minimum wage. Hate the score system, who ever thought it up please go on undercover jobs and come see me. Please.

    Advice to Management

Our management is pretty good finally. I have nothing negative and only positive. My concerns are on a corporate level.

    Pros

Competitive pay and benefits. Good work life balance where family is important.

    Cons

Declining business. Culture is eroding. Not much room to advance as business is in decline.

I have been working at Brinker full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Solid company good pay and benefits. Their training program is solid and there is plenty of development along the way. Great bonus potential.

    Cons

Bonuses are out of reach for most restaurant teams, sales plans are out of reach which makes profitability tough to achieve without sacrificing hospitality

    Advice to Management

Take local leaders advice about plan look at more than just be up 5% year over year. With growing competition the market share doesn't always allow for a 5% increase and write fair plans

    Cons

Work life balance and quality of life is tough. Restaurant industry in general is a tough environment in Austin...high turnover, poor labor pool and increase in competition.

    Advice to Management

    Simplify

I worked at Brinker full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When they say your like family they mean it. I've never become so close to so many folks in my life. At first they were stand offish (like many restaurants) but eventually they embraced me with open arms. Through my good moods and bad. They would let me vent and be okay with it. I genuinely felt like I was part of a chaotic hot mess of a family.

    Cons

Unequal pay, counterparts were (proven) to make more per hour yet have less experience and knowledge. Some employees busted they're rear end while others weren't expected to do anything. Watching how management treated the veteran cooks/chefs made me not want to pursue a career with this company.

    Advice to Management

Have all management set a guideline and follow it. Don't play favorites and stick to it. Remember that this is not just your life it's everyone's life. Don't treat employees like garbage until they prove to be awful employees. Pay every one according to their experience and knowledge and not base it on "the good 'ol boys" technique. That means just because you like a smooth talker doesn't mean that they should get paid better.

I have been working at Brinker full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful people to work with and the support system to help you integrate into the corporate culture as a new employee. I have been able to adjust to new working environment in less than 45 days

    Cons

It is a bit difficult to get approval for new innovation and idea. I would suggest having the Innovation department to be independent of the R&D department

    Pros

Hardest working people ive ever worked with
really dedicated to the each other because they all love the company
Kelly Valade is an amazing egg

    Cons

too much focus on HR fluff is pullin attention away from operations
rules are set and then re-set and then set again,,, no consistency

    Advice to Management

High deductible plans suck for everyone that has health problems how about something else these plans only work in daallas, what about the other chili's cities?

Shedules suck too. My wife works for a 24/7 utilities plant and she can plan her schedule better than mine.
