I have been working at Bristol-Myers Squibb full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good. R&D pipeline is supposed to be strong

    Cons

Due to competitive market lot of job cuts and transformation to make it a small company. No pension plan for new hires

    Advice to Management

Spending too much money on I-O portfolio. Need to look at acquisitions as R&D pipeline is weak

    Pros

Diverse culture, opportunities for growth, excellent portfolio of drugs.

Long work hours, lack of organized process improvement and a resistance to modernization and process improvement.

I have been working at Bristol-Myers Squibb as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not micro managed, relaxed work atmosphere. Company in individual divisions has a clear set goal and idea of where they want to be.

    Cons

Very large company, sometimes makes it hard to relay information to outsourced organizations (BT) or other parts of BMS if you are not a high ranked manager - level employee.

I worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Nice working environment as far as the workforce in general, which tends to be very professional and culturally diverse. Compensation and benefits are competitive as is work/life balance overall.

    Cons

Frequent organizational restructuring creates chaos and undermines morale. Employees are viewed as disposable. There is very little opportunity to advance career-wise.

    Advice to Management

Consider the true costs of chronic restructuring.

    Pros

I liked that they provided amenities such as a daycare on premises; Gym, etc. The cafeteria is fairly decent as well. Office spaces are much better than some of the other companies. Laxed dress code was also much appreciated.

    Cons

There was a lot of nepotism--it didn't matter how hard you worked but the promotions and raises were always given to the favorites. It became increasingly demotivating to work in an environment like that. There also wasn't much flexibility to have a better work-life balance, even though this was emphasized by the company on paper. At the end it felt like the negatives outweighed the positives.

    Advice to Management

Hiring should be done on the basis of merit as well as personality. There should be zero tolerance for nepotism. There should be a better career plan for employees.
