I have been working at Bristol-Myers Squibb full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive Salaries, great benefits, tons of new work (strong pipeline); Some of the best people I have worked with in industry have come from this company.

    Cons

Many culture changes due to shift in industry (good response but poor execution). People's education is favored over experience, though this is slowly changing.

    Advice to Management

Development of employees should be a focus; Performance rating system is not completely balanced. Objective/ behavior ratings vary from person to person, group to group, but overall rating of employees is grouped by level not taking into account overall achievements

I have been working at Bristol-Myers Squibb full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The culture and environment within the organization are extraordinary. There is a true focus on making the patient and their health "the" top priority. Across functions in R&D there is a genuine passion for the work and advancing medicine, and the consensus output of the workforce exudes this sentiment. Great work life balance, reasonable pay and good benefits. Leadership is transparent about their position on growth and how they intend to accomplish objectives.

    Cons

Due to economics and the pace of industry there are reductions in the workforce. I don't personally think this is the desire of leadership, but rather a necessity driven by the market and the need to remain relevant and bring new medicines to market in an agile way.

    Advice to Management

Continue investing in your workforce and helping to guide the momentum of the organization through transparency and opportunity for advancement for internal colleagues. Please continue driving the importance of the patients, this is truly inspiring to be a part of.

I have been working at Bristol-Myers Squibb full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are great, the pay is great, the work life balance is great with the 12 hour shifts they have, the people that you work with can be great it depends on where and when you work, opportunity for growth, you go in and you get your work done and no problems.

    Cons

Depending with the people you work with some are there for themselves and don't set up others for success and you have to clean up messes, there is a lack of accountability unless it affects production between shifts. Overall I think this problem of holding people accountable occurs with 'looking out' for the people on your shift and it divides everyone and the success.

    Advice to Management

Keep up with connecting with your employees and listening to their ideas, keep your word on how to make the work area better where theres opportunity to do it. Hold people accountable for their actions.

    Pros

The company and management treat employees as professionals. Over the years, the company has been pursuing inclusiveness and diversities. The company has a mentor program which allows employee to connect with leaders and senior managers and have dialogues around their career developments.

    Cons

The company started its reform since 2005. the continuing improvements and innovations have transformed the company from a traditional pharmaceutical to a bio-pharmaceutical company. However, because of these changes are no-stopping, it has generated many uncertainties to career opportunities of the company.

    Advice to Management

Improvements and innovations need a rhythm. Many things exist for a reason. The company should make sure histories and knowledge get carried on when making changes, and new processes are in place before breaking old ones.

I worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits, most fellow employees are friendly, helpful, and cooperative .(Hopewell, NJ)

    Cons

Left Hand/Right Hand syndrome or just poor planning wastes millions. Work/life balance is awful if you truly care about your job. Downsizing to a point that you just could not keep up.

    Advice to Management

Biologics-based medicines were known to be the pipeline of the future 5 years ago. Perfect opportunity to reorg locations. Didn't happen. Building Devens was a must, But stop ignoring the other moving parts of the organization that GET a compound to that point..
