I have been working at Bristol Myers Squibb full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good work life balance . Nice coworker. Open space working environment. Detailed on boarding training. Average salary but very good benefits. Not very high pace.

    Cons

Bad company strategy, senior leadership, and painful company transformation. Design of clinical trials are too aggressive and risky. We work for patients, but we also work for ourselves.

I worked at Bristol Myers Squibb full-time

    Pros

Great people in the rank & file. Great open work environment. Great pay & benefits.

    Cons

The attitude at BMS is a bit "cult like" it can seem a bit "Stepford Wives" at times. But there is a bigger/deeper problem which is upper management is led by outside consultants -- don't believe they would know what to do if they didn't have their outside consultants directing them. They spend literally hundreds of millions of dollars a year on consultants. Management is very protective of those consultants as well -- to the detriment of employees.

I have been working at Bristol Myers Squibb full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

As many other reviews say, pipeline is good and most co-workers are great and understanding. Big company, so you can move around to explore different things. Devens is a good site and I approve of the Devens site head.

    Cons

I’ve had a very demotivating 2017 at BMS. - No upward mobility for associate scientists. We are stuck in the lab forever - we don’t get to go to conferences and meetings - exploring other opportunities are looked down upon - the entire thing about “collaboration” is a farce. Some managers in my department tell their groups not to share data. - no opportunity to present work to senior leadership team. - lots of talented people leaving - they care too much about the money but they don’t know where to invest (some departments) - hostile work environment to women. I’ve been subject to several sexist remarks by male colleagues. - retaliation against employees who want to move within the company. - Incompetent HR. - they treat contractors like dirt.

I have been working at Bristol Myers Squibb full-time

    Pros

Friendly co- workers, benefits are decent, recently updated office areas

    Cons

Constant upper and midlevel management turnover in the recent 3/4 years (Syracuse) results in extreme changes to culture and overall work environment. Most of the plant has changed to 12 hour shifts; work-life balance has quickly fallen wayside. Constant and sudden extreme changes in processes with minimal to no training results in major mistakes which lead to investigations, not problem solving. Departments are in silos; communication is minimal and people are constantly questioning the longevity of the plant. Most recently, seasoned employees had their positions reposted and were made to interview- resulting in being informed they no longer qualified. The days of retirement from this once esteemed company are over. Not many opportunities for advancement as the company focuses more on cutting out the fat and putting more work on already stressed employees. There's no gym, no daycare, and are now removing onsite dining facility.
